VIDEO: Katy Perry Surprises with a Visit to “Venga la Alegría”
The American singer announced concerts in Mexico and was warmly received at TV Azteca, where she participated in several activities and shared her love for Mexican culture.
Famous American singer Katy Perry caused a stir in Mexico when she announced three concerts in the country as part of her upcoming “The Lifetimes Tour 2025.” To the surprise of her fans, Perry made a quick visit to Mexico City and received a warm welcome on the TV Azteca show “Venga La Alegría,” where she participated in various activities alongside the show’s hosts.
Upon arriving at the studio, Katy Perry was greeted by the female hosts of the show, who, in tribute to her style, wore costumes inspired by the iconic outfits the artist has worn in her most famous music videos. Jokingly, Perry commented that her visit to Mexico wasn’t just to announce her tour, but also to enjoy Mexican cuisine: “For the empanadas, for the tostadas,” she said, causing laughter from everyone on set.
Perry also expressed her admiration for the passion and drama of Mexican culture, and she appeared moved by the warm reception from the TV Azteca staff, who welcomed her enthusiastically and took the opportunity to snap photos with the star. The singer, known for hits like “Roar,” asked for a margarita to enjoy during her time on the show and was delighted by the energy of the hosts.
Perry’s visit to the show included fun segments, where she even participated in a comedic activity with comedian Capi Pérez and boarded a bus that simulated the experience of public transportation in Mexico City—an experience that entertained both the audience and the singer herself.
However, a moment of apparent discomfort caught the attention of viewers when, upon being informed that she would be staying on the show for a while, Perry made a gesture of displeasure that didn’t go unnoticed. In her statements, Perry explained that her visit to Mexico was brief because she needed to return to the United States to be with her daughter, Daisy Dove, who she must prepare for school.
Additionally, Perry shared that both she and her daughter are familiar with Spanish, largely thanks to Daisy’s grandmother, who only speaks the language. The singer also took the opportunity to reflect on her journey and said that if she could, she would tell her younger self as a teenager: “You are loved, you should stop stressing about boys, there are so many of them in the world.”
Finally, Katy Perry will return to Mexico in April 2025, with a concert at the Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City, where her fans will be able to enjoy her live performance as part of “The Lifetimes Tour 2025,” a production that, according to the singer, will evoke the magic of Disney.
