IT has been a rough preseason for New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones.

Entering his sixth NFL season, the 27-year-old is looking to bounce back from an injury-shortened 2023 campaign that saw him make just six appearances.

Unfortunately for the former Duke star, his preseason debut in a 28-10 loss to the Houston Texans left a lot to be desired.

Jones went 11 of 18 for 138 yards, throwing an interception as well as a brutal pick-six.

Now with their final preseason game against the New York Jets just days away, the two teams have been training together in New Jersey.

After training, Jets All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner was asked for his thoughts on Jones – in a clip that has since gone viral.

Gardner stumbled as he said “he’s a good quarterback,” before detailing a near pick he had on Jones in practice.

He then remained all but silent for the next 12 seconds as he figured out what to say next as an awkward silence loomed.

After stumbling around some more, Gardner then simply said, “I don’t really know what to say.”

Clearly having seen how far and wide the clip had spread, Gardner later took to X to explain the situation.

“I said ‘he’s a good quarterback’, I just got a lil distracted with something mid-interview…chilllllllll,” he wrote.

But by that point, it appears the damage had already been done.

“Stop lying Sauce it’s ok to be honest,” one fan commented.

“You’re a good dude, Sauce. Thank you for making us Giants fans, laugh,” said a second.

“I often also things I don’t mean it’s okay,” added another.

While a fourth replied, “It’s alright Sauce we know what that stutter meant.”
