The 2024 NFL preseason has come to an end, and it’s time for all 32 teams to finalize the critical details ahead of the regular season, which kicks off on Thursday, September 4.

The two-time NFL champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, will host the Baltimore Ravens at Arrowhead Stadium in a rematch of last season’s AFC Championship Game, marking the start of a new NFL season.

But before that, all league franchises must announce their final 53-player roster. The deadline for this announcement is Tuesday, August 27, by 4:00 PM Eastern Time, at which point teams must submit their final list to NFL authorities.

The defending champions, the Chiefs, will also need to finalize their cuts for the upcoming season.

The challenge for coach Andy Reid‘s team is managing the abundance of talent they have, based on the performances seen during training camp and the three preseason games.

The good news is that the Chiefs have been gradually trimming their roster week by week.

Which Players Will Make the Chiefs’ Final Roster?

To begin with, there will be no changes at the quarterback position, with both Patrick Mahomes and Carson Wentz remaining on the team.

The running back group is expected to include Isiah Pacheco, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, and Carson Steele, which could leave Deneric Prince as the odd man out.

The group of seven wide receivers is unlikely to see any changes, despite some offseason discipline issues with Rashee Rice. He will stay with the team alongside Marquise Brown, Xavier Worthy, and others.

No changes are anticipated for the tight ends, with Travis Kelce leading a group that includes Noah Gray and Jared Wiley. The offensive line also appears set, with no significant modifications needed.

The defense, however, could see the most cuts, with players like Truman Jones, Nic Jones, and Keith Taylor expected to be released.

It’s worth noting that the Chiefs have been steadily reducing their roster week by week from the initial 90 players they started with during minicamps, so the final cuts may be fewer compared to other franchises.
