A’ja Wilson was surprised by a Japenese fan holding a sign using Caitlin Clark to troll Team USA. The USA Basketball women’s team faced off against Japan to start its Olympic journey.

Before the clear win over the Asian squad, Wilson and har teammates were shocked after a fan showed them a sign saying that without Caitlin Clark, they wouldn’t beat Japan.

“You need Caitlin Clark to beat us,” the sign read, according to Kerith Burke on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Wilson seemed surprised at the beginning and then told Alyssa Thomas and Brittney Griner to look at the sign being held by a Japanese fan wearing a half-Nets, half-Lakers jersey.

Team USA ultimately took the win after a close first half, with A’ja Wilson dropping 17 points. She added seven points in the second half to finish the game with 24. Japan tried to stay close to the Americans, but they couldn’t keep up and ended the game with a 102-76 defeat.

Wilson grabbed 13 rebounds and four assists in 26 minutes of action. Breanna Stewart contributed 22 points and eight rebounds to help the squad land the Olympic tournament’s first win.

A’ja Wilson got support from Victoria Monet before Olympic debut

A’ja Wilson has become one of the most famous faces in the WNBA and even pop culture icons are supporting her. Ahead of the Olympic debut, she sat down with Glamour Magazine to name the song that puts her in the mood before playing a game.

“I would have to say the song that pumps me up would have to be ‘On My Mama’ by Victoria Monet,” Wilson said.

Monet responded to her, hyping her up and sending a strong message on her Instagram story.

“Dare I jump with some stats? 😭

“🥺🥺@aja22wilson that makes me so happy!! MVP! Rooting for you & Team USA in Paris,” she captioned the post.

A’ja Wilson is the leader of the 2024 USA Basketball women’s team. They have huge expectations for this Olympic tournament and she’s keen to lead them to the promised land.

Wilson started her campaign on a strong note in her second Olympics. If she keeps playing like she did during the first half of the 2024 WNBA season, Team USA will have an easy walk to the gold medal.
