LeBron James adds to the fire by responding to Simone Biles after Donald Trump’s remark
LeBron James has issued a response over the Simone Biles and Donald Trump situation as the presidential hopeful received a lot of flack for his recent comments.
LeBron has been known for staying away from political situations throughout his career, presumably in an attempt not to alienate any of his considerable fanbase.
When it comes to Olympic gymnast Biles, though, he is willing to make an exception and he has defended her against Trump.
At the National Association of Black Journalists convention, Trump made a controversial remark about employment in the Black community.
“I will tell you that coming from the border are millions and millions of people that happen to be taking Black jobs,” Trump said.
Biles responded to Trump’s comment with a dig on social media, writing: “I love my black job.”
LeBron has since shared Biles’s response and added: “Black,” with a picture of a goat in a post on X.
Biles excelling in Paris
Many of LeBron’s fans were thrilled to see him publicly support Biles in the face of lots of negative attention sparked by Trump’s comments.
Biles earned her seventh Olympic gold medal by soaring to victory in the women’s vault final at the Paris Games on Saturday.
The 27-year-old Biles averaged 15.300 for her signature Yurchenko double pike and Cheng vaults to claim a second gold on the event eight years after she triumphed in Rio de Janeiro.
Biles is the second woman to win vault twice, joining Vera Casalavska of Czechoslovakia as a two-time gold medalist on the vault.
Casalavska went back to back in 1964 and 1968. Biles now has 10 Olympic medals in her career, tied for the third most by a female gymnast. She also boosted her medal count at major international competitions to 40, the most by any gymnast.
