he wait for the NFL is almost over. It feels like just weeks ago when the Kansas City Chiefs clinched victory in the second Super Bowl to go into Extra Time, securing their second consecutive title and third in five seasons.
But 30 weeks have passed since that historic moment, and now, starting this Thursday, we’ll have around 300 games over the 18-week regular season and playoffs, culminating in the Vince Lombardi Trophy being lifted at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans on February 9th.
Will the Chiefs be the first team in history to achieve a three-peat? Will someone stop them in the AFC, or will they fall in the Super Bowl to an NFC team? Whatever happens, one thing is for sure-Football is finally back.
NFL’s new hype video: More Taylor Swift than NFL stars
With just days to go before the season kicks off with the champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, facing the Baltimore Ravens-the team with last season’s best record, who were eliminated by Kansas in the AFC Championship Game. The NFL has released a 30-second hype video, the video is sparking controversy as it features Taylor Swift five times, more than any NFL star.
Players like MVP Lamar Jackson, Jalen Hurts, or Dak Prescott appear only once, while big names like Joe Burrow, C.J. Stroud, or Tyreek Hill don’t show up at all. This clearly indicates the NFL’s interest in having Swift continue attending games, attracting more young followers, and especially creating new female fans.
According to studies, since Swift’s first appearance in September last year, NFL viewership among teenage girls has increased by 53 percent, and among the 18-24 age demographic, there has been a 24 percent increase.
The NFL recognizes that Swift is a sponsor they don’t have to pay. Her fame is so immense in the U.S. and worldwide that her “Eras Tour” is the highest-grossing tour in history, becoming the first to surpass $1 billion in revenue with over 4.35 million tickets sold.
Last season, Taylor Swift attended 13 Chiefs games, including the Super Bowl, often becoming a focal point for the cameras, just like in this hype video.
This season, the Chiefs are set to play on every day of the week except Tuesday, a first in NFL history, showcasing the “Taylor effect” as her presence at Chiefs’ games drew massive attention from her vast fanbase.
Her “Eras Tour” schedule will allow Swift to watch her boyfriend Travis Kelce and attend the first five weeks of the NFL season, the final four weeks, and all playoff games, setting the stage for another season of heightened interest in the NFL.
Happy new NFL year
As you may know, the NFL season kicks off on Thursday at Arrowhead Stadium with the champions taking on the Baltimore Ravens. But aside from this marquee matchup, Week 1 also features a historic game in São Paulo, Brazil, on Friday night between the Green Bay Packers and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Three rookie quarterbacks will start in their first games: first overall draft pick Caleb Williams with Chicago in the morning, second pick Jayden Daniels with Washington in the afternoon, and 12th pick Bo Nix with Denver. Additionally, Tom Brady will make his debut as a Fox analyst during the Cowboys’ game in Cleveland.
Prime time will see Detroit hosting Matthew Stafford and the Rams on Sunday night, followed by Aaron Rodgers and the Jets facing the NFC champions and Super Bowl runner-ups, the San Francisco 49ers, on Monday night.
