Chicago Sky‘s choice of Tyler Marsh, a former assistant coach with the Las Vegas Aces, to be their next head coach has already sparked positive reactions. Marsh has been vocal about his admiration for Chicago’s rising talent and Angel Reese subtly showed her enthusiasm with a single-letter post on X shortly after the news broke, signaling her approval.

“Excuse me?! We’re grieving, have some respect!” Aces player Sydney Colson responded to Reese‘s ‘W.’ post.

Reese also added a humorous twist, sending a playful message to Colson, who had shared her disappointment over Marsh‘s departure.

“Sorry but your time is UP. It’s our turn! I’ll send you some tissue tho sister girl unless you want to come join this side too,” Reese joked.

With Colson now a free agent, there’s speculation that she might consider joining Reese and the Sky for the upcoming season, adding even more excitement to Chicago’s fresh start.

“Lmaoo u just pissed me off so bad with this,” Colson replied.

Marsh’s appointment

The Chicago Sky have appointed Marsh to a multi-year contract as head coach. Marsh, who also managed player development for the Aces, will now lead a young Sky roster, including rising stars Reese and Kamilla Cardoso.

Chicago also holds a lottery pick in the upcoming WNBA draft. However, the Dallas Wings could exercise a pick swap, meaning the Sky’s position might not be the top spot even with a favorable lottery outcome.

Marsh steps in following Teresa Weatherspoon’s departure after one season, in which the Sky missed the playoffs for the first time since 2018 with a 13-27 record.

At age 36, Marsh will be the fourth head coach for Chicago since their 2021 championship win. During his tenure with the Aces, he contributed to back-to-back titles before the team was edged out by New York in this year’s semifinals.
