Jelly Roll has always been candid about his struggles with feeling like an outsider, but now, he has a new companion to keep him company: a mini donkey. In a surprising and heartwarming turn, Jelly Roll shared his recent acquisition on social media, joking that this adorable animal might just be the antidote to the feeling of being left out.

Jelly Roll, who started out selling hip-hop mixtapes from his car, became a household name with his 2023 country music debut, Whitsitt Chapel. The success continued into 2024 when the Antioch, Tennessee-born artist (real name: Jason DeFord) earned his first-ever No. 1 album with Beautifully Broken. To celebrate Jelly’s growing success, his wife, Bunnie Xo, and daughter, Bailee, decided to treat themselves to a special gift. But when Jelly Roll felt left out of the celebration, they made sure to fix that.

Jelly Roll’s New BFF: “A Stubborn F—er”

Jelly Roll and his family are building their dream life together, having recently bought 500 acres of farmland near Nashville. They even have plans to double the size of their property by December.

No farm is complete without animals, so Bunnie and her daughter, Bailee, decided it was time to welcome their first miniature Highland cow. Naturally, they returned home with three cows.

Jelly Roll was thrilled to meet Brownie, S’mores, and Crunch, though the number of cows quickly outnumbered the humans on the farm. His 8-year-old son, Noah, immediately bonded with Crunch.

“He’s small, we have the same hair, and he’s probably nice,” Noah said.

Bailee, 16, felt an instant connection with Brownie, while Bunnie clicked with S’mores. This left Jelly Roll feeling a bit left out, but Bunnie wasn’t about to let that slide.

“Yesterday my husband was upset that everyone got a farm animal except him,” Bunnie shared on social media (Jan. 5). “So today we had his own farm animal delivered.”

Excited to meet his new friend, Jelly Roll prepared for the arrival of Grizz, a mini-donkey. “First impressions last a lifetime. It’s my first time seeing Donkey,” he remarked.

Love at First Sight?

When Jelly Roll met Grizz, he beamed with excitement, calling him “the best donkey ever.” However, his opinion of Grizz quickly shifted as he watched the animal handler struggle to help Grizz settle into his new home. “He’s a stubborn f—er,” the “I Am Not Okay” singer admitted with a laugh.

“He’s small, we have the same hair, and he’s probably nice,” the young boy explained.

Bailee, 16, declared herself “meant to be” with Brownie, and Bunnie formed a connection with S’more. That left Jelly Roll out in the cold, and Bunnie couldn’t have that.

“Yesterday my husband was upset everyone got a farm animal except for him,” the Dumb Blonde podcast host wrote on social media Sunday (Jan. 5.) “So today we had his own farm animal delivered.”

Anxious to meet his new BFF, Jelly smoothed his hair as the family readied for Grizz the mini-donkey. “First impressions last a lifetime. It’s my first time seeing Donkey,” he explained.

Love At First Sight?

Upon their meeting, a beaming Jelly Roll declared Grizz “the best donkey ever.” However, his perspective shifted slightly watching the animal handler struggling to help Grizz settle into his new pasture. “He’s a stubborn f—er,” the “I Am Not Okay” singer said.

Fans delighted in seeing the three-time CMT Award winner so happy. “His excitement is so infectious!” one Instagram user commented.
