My husband and his mistress

I thought I had lost everything when I caught my husband, Brian, with another woman and he kicked me out of the house.

However, then his grandfather Richard called and had a plan that would change everything and teach Brian a lesson he would never forget.

I always thought my life was perfect.

Brian and I had been married for ten years.

We didn’t have children yet, but we had planned it.

We had a beautiful home, successful careers and an active social life.

His family was rich — really rich.

His grandfather Richard was the one who made the family fortune.

Last Monday I came home early from a business trip because I wanted to surprise Brian with a romantic dinner.

I crept into the house and imagined the look on Brian’s face when he saw me.

I heard noises coming from upstairs — strange noises.

My heart started beating rapidly.

I crept upstairs and opened the bedroom door to find Brian in bed with another woman.

“Brian!” I screamed.

“What the hell is going on here?”

Brian jumped out of bed and tried to cover himself.

The woman grabbed her clothes and ran out of the room.

Brian looked at me with shock and anger.

“Stacy, what are you doing here?” he replied.

“I live here!

What do you mean what am I doing here?

“Who is she?”

“It’s not what it seems,” he murmured, but his eyes gave him away.

He couldn’t even look at me.

“Isn’t it what it seems?”

Are you making fun of me?

“You are in our bed with another woman!”

“Just go away, Stacy,” he said coldly.

“This is my house.

Disappear.”

“Your house? Brian, we bought this house together.

“We build our life together!”

“No, Stacy,” he said, his voice icy.

“I bought this house.

My money.

My house.

Now go away.”

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

I felt like the ground had collapsed beneath my feet.

With tears running down my face, I grabbed a suitcase and packed everything I could find.

I didn’t even know where to go.

I ended up at my best friend Karen’s apartment.

When he opened the door and saw me, he didn’t have to ask.

He just hugged me.

“Stacy, entra.

“Tell me everything,” he said softly.

We sat on his couch and I let it all out between sobs.

Karen listened and held my hand.

“Stay as long as you need,” he said.

“Let’s solve this.”

In the days that followed, I was a mess.

I didn’t know what to do or where to go.

I couldn’t eat or sleep.

I was just thinking about Brian and that woman.

How could he do this to me?

How could he throw away ten years?

Karen tried to help.

He brought me food and tried to make me laugh, but nothing worked.

I felt like my whole life had fallen apart.

One night, while I was lying on Karen’s couch staring at the ceiling, I got a call.

It was Richard, Brian’s grandfather.

I almost didn’t want to answer, but curiosity won out.

“Hello?” I said, trying to keep my voice calm.

“Stacy, it’s Richard,” his deep, familiar voice said.

“I heard what happened.

“Can we meet?”

I hesitated.

“Why do you want to see yourself?”

“Please meet me.

I can’t accept my grandson’s behavior and I think I can help you.

There is something important you need to know.”

I agreed, unsure of what to expect.

The next day, I met Richard at his favorite cafe.

He was already there, sitting at a table outside with a cup of coffee.

He looked up as I approached, his eyes filled with concern.

“Stacy,” he said, standing up to hug me.

“I’m so sorry about all this.”

“Thank you, Richard,” I said and sat down.

“I can’t believe this is happening.

I thought Brian and I would be together forever, and now this.

“I am devastated.”

“Brian is an idiot,” he said bluntly.

“I don’t know what I was thinking — I will not tolerate this behavior.

You are family to me, Stacy.

And I want to help you with this.”

“How can you help me?” I asked, grateful but also confused as to how Richard could help me.

“First,” Richard said, “Brian lied to you about the house.

He never paid it.

It was always my property and I let him live there rent-free.

“That only contributed to his wealth and arrogance.”

I was stunned.

“So you kicked me out of a house that was never yours?”

“Exactly,” Richard confirmed.

“And that’s why I have a plan to fix things.”

I listened as Richard explained his plan.

“Pretend you’re moving on,” he said.

“I’m going to pretend I agree to fund the renovations Brian requested.

He has asked me to cover the renovation costs.

I will convince him to take out a large loan, believing that I will cover it later.”

“Okay,” I said slowly.

“And then?”

“Once the renovations are complete, we will reveal that the house is now yours,” Richard said, a hint of satisfaction in his voice.

“Brian will face the debt and the consequences of his actions.”

I could hardly believe what I was hearing.

It sounded almost too perfect.

But I trusted Richard.

It has never failed me before.

The plan went off without a hitch.

I started acting like I was moving on, I immersed myself in work and reconnected with old friends.

Meanwhile, Richard played his role to perfection, pretending to support Brian’s renovation plans.

Brian was excited.

He and his lover began extensive renovations, not knowing what lay ahead.

Richard kept me discreetly informed of his progress.

It was surreal watching from the sidelines, knowing that this house — my home — would soon be mine again.

The day finally arrived.

The renovations were complete and the house looked more beautiful than ever.

Richard called a meeting with Brian, his lover, and me.

Brian looked arrogant as he presented the renovations.

“It looks amazing, doesn’t it?” Brian said, his arm around his lover.

“We couldn’t have done it without you, Grandpa!”

Richard clearing his throat.

“Actually, Brian, there is something you should know.”

Brian’s smile faded.

“What do you mean?”

“The house belongs to Stacy now,” Richard said calmly.

“You took the loan and you are responsible for it.

The property was transferred into Stacy’s name.”

Brian’s face turned pale.

“That?

“It can’t be true!”

“It’s true,” Richard said.

“You made your choices, my son.

Now you have to live with them.”

I stood there, feeling triumphant and relieved, but also sad about the end of my marriage.

Mostly, though, I felt strong.

Brian was in shock and now had to deal with the financial ruin he was facing.

He had to manage the heavy loan on his own, and his relationship with his mistress quickly crumbled under the pressure.

I moved back into the beautiful renovated house.

At first it was strange to be back in a place that held so many memories, both good and bad.

But I knew I had a chance to start over.

I reconnected with old friends and focused on my career again.

Richard continued to support me, offering advice and wisdom.

His plan had not only given me my home back, but it had also given me the strength to rediscover myself.

Brian, on the other hand, learned a hard lesson.

She was struggling with financial difficulties and the end of her relationship.

He was forced to reflect on his actions and the consequences they brought.

Over time, I began to feel like myself again.

Stronger, more confident.

I started a new chapter in my life, and although the pain of Brian’s betrayal was still there, it was overshadowed by the feeling of justice and empowerment I felt.

One night, while I was in the living room of my reclaimed home, I looked around and admired the beautiful renovations.

They were a symbol of my resilience, proof of the unexpected twist of fate that Richard had orchestrated.

I realized that I hadn’t lost everything — I had gained a new beginning.

With Richard’s continued support, I knew I could handle this new chapter in my life.

I was no longer defined by my marriage to Brian, but by my strength and ability to overcome adversity.

And as I looked out the window, I felt an inner peace, knowing I was ready to face whatever came next.

What would you have done?
