In the aftermath of the Kendrick Lamar halftime saga, many fans have called for things to change, as a lot of critics simply did not enjoy the show whatsoever.

2024-2025 NFL – CARRIES Leaderboards

Ahead of the Super Bowl, sports personality Skip Bayless made headlines when he alleged the NFL knew they screwed up after they sent an apology letter to Lil Wayne after he wasn’t selected to perform the halftime show in his native New Orleans.

Wayne was notably hurt and upset over not being selected.

“A letter that thanked him for his years of supporting the league, not just the Packers — his favorite team — but supporting and promoting the NFL, in general, which he has,” Bayless said at the time.

Bayless later added that he would watch the game but would not “play Sunday’s halftime show, and he definitely won’t watch a second of Sunday’s halftime show.”

In a new report from the U.S. Sun, they can now confirm that the league did apologize to Wayne for selecting Kendrick Lamar over him for the halftime show.

According to the report, the NFL regrets its decision to give Jay-Z and Roc Nation too much control to make this decision.

Numbers do not lie.

The NFL might have been exposed as regretting picking Kendrick Lamar over Lil Wayne for this year’s Super Bowl halftime show in New Orleans, but they are certainly not mad about the history he made during his show, and the numbers prove it.

As the first solo rap artist to headline in NFL Super Bowl history, Kendrick Lamar beat the record for the most-watched halftime show with over 133 million live viewers.

He actually garnered more viewers than the actual game itself.

Aside from that, Lamar also became the first living male soloist in history to simultaneously chart three solo albums in the top 10 on the Billboard 200.

The NFL and the Compton native got something out of this pairing.
