Michael Bublé explains why he wouldn’t turn his chair for a singer with his style, even as Adam Levine kept yelling
Westlake native Hayden Grove took the stage on The Voice with a smooth and classic rendition of “Mack the Knife,” hoping to impress the celebrity coaches. While Adam Levine turned his chair, securing Grove a spot on his team, fans were surprised that Michael Bublé, a longtime supporter of Grove, didn’t follow suit.
Grove, who had previously connected with Bublé on TikTok and even received a shoutout from him during a 2022 concert, admitted he was initially confused by the decision.
“I immediately thought, ‘Did I do something wrong? Did he know it was me?’” Grove said.
As soon as the performance ended, Bublé recognized Grove and explained his reasoning.
“This dude knows that I love him,” Bublé said. “I didn’t turn because our styles are so similar. I truly believe he’ll learn more from Adam.”

Bublé even joined Grove onstage to give the coaches a quick lesson in traditional pop vocals, reinforcing his belief that Grove had everything it takes to succeed.
Meanwhile, fellow coach Kelsea Ballerini regretted not turning for Grove, admitting, “I’m having massive second thoughts.”
Levine, who ultimately won Grove for his team, praised the singer’s talent and versatility.
“You have a tremendous voice with so much range, and it’s super diverse,” Levine said, handing Grove a Team Adam sweatshirt.
Grove, a social media reporter for Cleveland.com, described the experience as surreal, especially since he grew up listening to Maroon 5’s Songs About Jane on repeat.
While many expected him to join Team Bublé, Grove embraced the twist.
With blind auditions still underway, Grove is preparing for the next stage: the Battle Rounds.
“I promised Adam I’ll be the hardest worker on the team,” Grove said. “That’s all I can do—give him my absolute best.”
