Meghan Markle’s Netflix Series Slammed as ‘Fake and Insincere’—PR Expert Exposes the ‘Well-Rehearsed Performance’ That’s Already Sparking Backlash

The Duchess of Sussex’s new series ‘With Love, Meghan’ on Netflix has already drawn criticism, with a PR expert explaining why it comes across as ‘insincere’.

The launch of Meghan Markle’s new Netflix series ‘With Love, Meghan’ has seen the Duchess of Sussex taking on a lifestyle influencer role as she shares cooking, home tips and even gifting etiquette.

Meghan, who moved back to the US in 2020, invites celebrity friends, influencers and actresses into her show, which runs as an eight-part series on Netflix. Released today (March 4), the show has already become the top watched programme on Netflix but it’s also ran into criticism as some viewers brand it ‘fake’ and ‘unrealistic.’

Now a PR expert has deep dived into why Meghan might be struggling to engage her audience with her new lifestyle focus, and why the new series comes across as ‘insincere’.

Chad Teixeira, media & PR expert, has explained why the Duchess’ new series isn’t changing the public perception of her. He said: “Meghan’s new show feels like a glossy vanity project with all the warmth of a frozen TV dinner. The audience wants authenticity, but all we’re getting is a well-rehearsed performance. It’s a true exercise in narcissism.

Kinsey Schofield brands Meghan Markle’s new show a ‘PR move’

“It’s as though she’s using the show to sell the idea of the perfect life, but it feels so far removed from reality that it’s hard to watch without rolling your eyes. This show is like a poor man’s version of every other celebrity cooking show, with a dash of royal privilege thrown in for good measure. It feels like she’s trying to copy others, but without the charm or personality that make these type of shows successful.”

He continued: “She’s trying so hard to be relatable but ends up coming across as insincere. It’s all so meticulously crafted that it doesn’t feel real. If Meghan wants to be taken seriously as a TV host, she needs to stop relying on her title and start showing some real personality. Right now, it feels like a show made for her to flaunt her lifestyle, rather than connect with viewers.

“The whole thing feels so overproduced that it’s hard to believe in anything. It’s like watching a performance rather than a person, and viewers can smell that from a mile away. People don’t want to be sold a picture perfect life; they want to see the messiness that makes someone relatable.”

He added: “It’s like they took bits and pieces from other shows and tried to create something new. But the magic just isn’t there, if it exists, is buried under layers of production, and it’s hard to see what sets this apart from every other cooking or lifestyle show that’s already out there? She has the fame and the platform, but she needs to deliver something more than just a polished, privilege filled fantasy. This show was just another flop on her constant pursuit of rebranding. This whole act must be so exhausting.”
