A’ja Wilson Shuts Down Caitlin Clark’s Fans – Dropping 42 Reasons Why’s She’s the WNBA MVP

A’ja Wilson showcased why she remains the front-runner for the 2024 WNBA MVP award, delivering an outstanding 42-point performance on Tuesday night against the Dallas Wings.

Despite her efforts, the Las Vegas Aces fell short in a 93-90 loss, highlighting the team’s ongoing struggles this season.

A’ja Wilson continues to make WNBA history

Wilson’s 42 points mark the highest-scoring game by any WNBA player this season and the most ever scored in a regulation loss.

The two-time MVP was incredibly efficient, hitting 16 of her 22 shots from the field.

However, her individual brilliance was not enough to lift the Aces, who now hold an 18-12 record and sit fifth in the league standings.

The Aces have had a tough season, with several key players dealing with injuries.

Despite these challenges, Wilson has consistently carried the team on her back, averaging 27.1 points per game-the highest ever through 30 games in league history.

But even with her impressive stats, the Aces have struggled to find their rhythm, and Wilson acknowledges that it’s not always about personal achievements.

“I wish I could shoot perfect every game, but that’s not always the case,” Wilson said after the game.

“I don’t let a lot of things linger because it takes you out of the moment. I’m going to try to still be productive for my team. Today, it was this… but we didn’t get the win, so none of that matters.”

Wilson’s performance on Tuesday was her third career 40-point game, placing her among the elite in WNBA history.

Only three other players-Breanna Stewart, Diana Taurasi, and Maya Moore-have recorded three or more 40-point games in their careers.

Wilson still favorite for WNBA MVP despite rising competition

With the WNBA playoffs just around the corner, Wilson remains the heavy favorite to win her third MVP award.

Her odds have only improved over the past week, even as other contenders like Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier and Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark have gained ground in the race.

Wilson’s dominance this season is underscored by her 52% shooting accuracy, a testament to her consistency and determination.

As the Aces prepare for their next game against the Atlanta Dream, Wilson will undoubtedly continue to prove why she deserves to be named MVP once again.

With just four weeks left until the playoffs, the race is on, and Wilson is showing no signs of slowing down.
