Brittney Griner is making headlines around the world for unfortunate reasons. She has been in Russian custody since being detained in February at Sheremetyevo International Airport. The Russian Federal Customs Service claims to have found vape cartridges containing the marijuana concentrate hashish oil in Griner’s luggage.

The 31-year-old Griner is on trial for “large-scale transportation of drugs, an offense that can carry a sentence of up to 10 years behind bars in Russia,” according to The New York Times.

Recently, Griner pleaded guilty to all the charges which can put her in detention for a long time. However, the Biden administration reportedly has a prisoner trade on the table to help facilitate her return.

Stars like LeBron James have given their opinions and the latest celebrity to give their reaction to the situation is Billionaire Elon Musk.

Elon Musk addressed the situation and also question the Government’s decision to exchange Griner. He wrote, “Maybe free some people in jail for weed here too?” along with a meme that he posted on Twitter.

During an episode of ‘The Shop’, LeBron talked about the situation and stated that Griner should think twice about coming back to a country that hasn’t done enough to get her home.

The backlash over his comments forced the Los Angeles Lakers star to issue a clarification regarding his words on Twitter. LeBron wrote, “I was simply saying how she’s probably feeling emotionally along with so many other emotions, thoughts, etc inside that cage she’s been in for over 100+ days.“
