Adam Brody and Leighton Meester’s $6.5 million LA home burns down in out-of-control California wildfires
The tragic loss comes just days after they appeared together on the red carpet.
Adam Brody and Leighton Meester’s family home in the Pacific Palisades neighbourhood of Los Angeles in the US has burnt down, as several out-of-control wildfires continue to rage in and near the city.
It comes days after the celebrity couple appeared on the Golden Globes red carpet together.
At least two people have been killed by the fast-growing wildfires, and 70,000 people have been ordered by officials to flee their homes.
Hundreds of buildings have been destroyed, Brody and Meester’s home among them.
The actors purchased the home in 2019 for $US6.5 ($A10.4) million and reside there with their nine-year-old and four-year-old children, the Daily Mail reported.
The Pacific Palisades area is known as a neighbourhood popular with celebrities, and other stars affected by the fires include Heidi Montag and her husband Spencer Pratt.
The couple rose to fame on reality series The Hills.
Actor Anna Faris’ home has also reportedly been destroyed.
Star Wars actor Mark Hamill, Gone Girl star Ben Affleck, This Is Us actress Mandy Moore and Schitts Creek actor Eugene Levy are among those who have been forced to flee the area.
Nearly 1200 ha have burned in the Pacific Palisades area between the beach towns of Santa Monica and Malibu, officials said.
Brody, 45, is known for playing the iconic TV roles of Seth Cohen in the 2000s drama The OC, which aired for four seasons, and Dave Rygalski in Gilmore Girls.
He most recently appeared in Netflix series Nobody Wants This, for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe.
It was the actor’s first Golden Globe nomination, with Jeremy Allen White taking home the prize for his work in The Bear.
Brody has also appeared in movies including Mr & Mrs Smith, Jennifer’s Body, Scream 4, Shazam! and Promising Young Woman.
Meester, 38, is known for her starring role as Blair Waldorf in the long-running 2000s drama Gossip Girl.
Brody’s Nobody Wants This co-star Kristen Bell coincidentally voiced the iconic voice of Gossip Girl in the series.
Meester also originated the role of Carrie Bishop in Veronica Mars, the show that launched Bell’s career.
Most recently, she portrayed Angie D’Amato on the sitcom Single Parents for two seasons, and made appearances in The Orville and How I Met Your Father.
She has also recently appeared in movies including The Weekend Away and EXmas.
She is set to appear in season two of The Buccaneers in an unknown role.
The couple have worked together on The Oranges, River Wild and Single Parents.
