I’m excited to report that the Taylor Swift and Hugh Grant love train continues, with the Tortured Poet responding to Grant’s thank-you tweet following her London Eras Tour show (in which he also praised her “gigantic” boyfriend).

“Dear [Taylor Swift],” posted Grant on June 23. “You have an incredible show, an amazing and v hospitable team and excellent if gigantic boyfriend (#tequilashots.). Thanks so much from one ageing London boy, wife and thrilled 8 year old #halfgirlhalfbracelet.” The OG London Boy attended the show alongside his wife, Anna Elisabet Eberstein, and their young daughter, and was seen housing baby carrots in the VIP tent during Paramore’s opening set.

Grant’s tweet went viral and a day later, Swift responded for all of the ’90s rom-com fans of the world. “As a long time Hugh Grant stan this tweet is very important to my culture,” she wrote. She’s just a girl, standing in front of a London boy, asking him to love her. You probably won’t be surprised to learn that there is a lot of overlap between Swifties and people who can recite every line from Bridget Jones’s Diary from memory.

In the comments, many X users posted that as both Taylor Swift and Hugh Grant stans, these tweets are very important to their culture. “Taylor and Hugh are both crucial to my origin story,” one commenter agreed. “Oh she’s seen notting hill (1999) a hundred times i just know it,” another person suggested in the quote-tweets. “I love taylor but i’ve honestly never RELATED to her like this,” tweeted someone else. Another person who agrees that Taylor Swift is Hugh Grant–fan coded wrote, “ofc tayprincess wrote london boy thinking about hugh grant.”
