Keyshia Cole Reveals Why She Betrayed Tupac In The 90s

Keyshia Cole has once again sparked controversy with her claims about Tupac Shakur, alleging that the legendary rapper confided in her about leaving Death Row Records just before his tragic death. However, not everyone is buying her story. From Suge Knight’s skepticism to fans questioning her later association with Tupac’s rivals, many are calling her out for exaggerating—or even fabricating—her relationship with Pac. So, what’s the truth? Did Keyshia really betray Tupac, or is this just another case of revisionist history?

Keyshia’s Claims: Tupac’s Alleged Plan to Leave Death Row

Keyshia Cole Reveals Why She Betrayed Tupac In The 90s

During a conversation with Fat Joe, Keyshia Cole recalled a significant moment with Tupac on the night of his death. She claimed that he told her he was planning to leave Death Row Records and sign with Quincy Jones, bringing her along for the ride.

“He was going to leave Death Row and go to sign with Quincy, and he wanted me to go over there because he said that Death Row is not the place for kids.”

She also mentioned that Tupac had encouraged her to stay focused, predicting that she would be a big star. According to her, he gave her advice about navigating the music industry, emphasizing the importance of knowledge and staying out of trouble.

Why People Are Calling Out Keyshia

While her story sounds compelling, many have been quick to poke holes in her claims. For one, Suge Knight—who was with Tupac nearly every day—says there is no way Pac would have shared such a critical plan with Keyshia, who was only 14 at the time.

“If Pac was leaving Death Row, I would know about it before anyone else.”Suge Knight

In addition, those close to Tupac argue that his relationship with Quincy Jones was complicated. Tupac initially criticized Jones for his interracial relationships, which led to a public feud. Though Pac later apologized and became romantically involved with Jones’ daughter, Kidada, the idea that he was suddenly planning to sign with Quincy raises eyebrows.

Even Danny Boy, a former Death Row artist, shut down Keyshia’s claims, stating:

“Pac wasn’t talking to a 14-year-old about serious business moves. That’s not how he operated.”

The Betrayal: Keyshia’s Association with Tupac’s Rivals

If Keyshia Cole was as close to Tupac as she claimed, many fans question why she later associated herself with his biggest enemies. Years after Tupac’s death, Keyshia was seen working with Diddy and hanging around Bad Boy affiliates—the very people Tupac was beefing with before his murder.

Fans see this as a direct betrayal, especially given the East Coast vs. West Coast rivalry at the time. Diddy was accused of playing a role in the beef that ultimately led to Tupac’s death, making Keyshia’s decision to align with him a serious point of contention.

Did Keyshia Exaggerate Her Relationship with Tupac?

While Keyshia Cole undeniably had connections to Tupac through her brother and her early involvement with Death Row, some believe she has exaggerated the extent of their relationship. The idea that a teenage girl was privy to Tupac’s private career plans and industry dealings—while his closest associates were not—raises skepticism.

Additionally, her story has changed slightly over the years. At one point, she said Tupac was 16 when he died (he was actually 25), and other details have seemed inconsistent.

Final Thoughts: Truth or Fiction?

Keyshia Cole’s story about Tupac leaving Death Row and signing with Quincy Jones is fascinating, but it lacks strong evidence. While she may have had genuine conversations with Pac, the idea that he was entrusting a 14-year-old with his biggest career move remains questionable.

Furthermore, her later alignment with Bad Boy casts a shadow over her claims of loyalty to Tupac. Whether intentional or not, her actions seem to contradict the deep connection she claims to have had with him.
