Dennis Schroder quickly defended Ben Simmons after he was bullied by a fan during the Brooklyn Nets’ 116-101 defeat to the Orlando Magic on Friday. One of the fans labeled Simmons “trash,” which sparked a heated argument as he was walking to the locker room at Kia Center.
“In response, Simmons shouted back at the fan, questioning why he hadn’t said it on the court. Additionally, this prompted Dennis Schroder, his teammate, to return to the fans and inquire about Simmons’s smack talker.
Initially, fan yelled, “You’re trash.” To this, Ben Simmons yelled, “Why didn’t you say it when I was there p****?”
Schroder felt compelled to address the fan directly, but Simmons, who had already passed that area when the remark was uttered, didn’t bother. “Who talking s*** to Ben?”, Schroder asked before going berserk at the fan.
According to the NetsDaily, “Told by a witness that what pissed off Schroder and other Nets players was that the fan waited till Simmons was 10 steps beyond him before calling him trash.” There, things got nasty. Thankfully, security stepped in before things got out of hand and someone got into more serious problems.
Ben Simmons Isn’t Getting Involved Much In Brooklyn Nets’ Offense At The Start Of This Season
The Nets have a 0–2 record. That isn’t shocking because Brooklyn is predicted to be among the weakest teams in the 2024–25 season. The Orlando Magic defeated the Brooklyn Nets 116-101 on Friday night. Simmons started both games but only made nine field goal attempts.
Jordi Fernandez, the head coach of the Nets, stated after Friday night’s game that he wants Simmons to try to score much more frequently.
He said, “I want those (shot) attempts to go up to 10 to 15 attempts per game. I don’t want him to drive to pass. I keep telling him to drive to the rim and be aggressive. That’s what the team needs from him, and that’s what his teammates want him to do.”
Simmons has never scored well but can improve his shot attempts near the basket. Simmons has only made five shots from beyond the arc in his career, so his offensive game is entirely down low. On the downside, Simmons has committed five personal fouls and turned the ball over ten times in both games.
