Trinity Rodman, daughter of the five-time NBA champion Dennis Rodman, emotionally opened up on their poor relationship as she said the Chicago Bulls‘ legend isn’t a part of her life anymore.

The 22-year-old soccer star earned a gold medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris for the USA, but she couldn’t count on her father to be watching her play after saying their “relationship is not really there” following years of estrangement.

When Dennis Rodman‘s split with his wife and Trinity‘s mother became permanent in 2012, it was revealed he owed $860,000 in child and spousal report highlighting the poor state of affairs between parent and daughter.

“I have nothing, honestly, bad to say about him,” Rodman said of her father in 2023. “He goes through so much and through his career, he’s had a very hard time.

“It’s weird being a daughter saying that about a dad. You’d think it would be the opposite way, but I think I have an understanding of kind of what he’s been going through.

“And right now, our relationship is not really there. But at the same time, I think we’re both in a place where it’s OK.”

Trinity wins gold at Olympics

Dennis starred for the Detroit Pistons and the Bulls as he claimed five NBA titles as well as being named as an All-Star and Defensive Player of the Year in the early 1990s, recording 6683 points, 11954 rebounds and 1600 assists through his career.

And Trinity has inherited that athletic talent by becoming a professional soccer player with the United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) after making her debut with the Washington Spirit.

The youngest draftee in NWSL history, she was also voted Rookie of the Year in 2021 as she won the NSWL title and was quickly selected to play alongside Megan Rapinoe and Carli Lloyd at international level.

There, she claimed a historic gold medal to break a 12-year drought for the USWNT as they defeated Brazil 1-0 in the final at the Parc des Princes in France via a Mallory Swanson strike in the 57th minute.
