Chef Gordon Ramsay had a frightening biking accident that caused him to get really hurt and covered in bruises.

During Father’s Day weekend, a well-known chef and TV host shared a message on social media about how important it is to wear a helmet after he had an accident. The chef from Hell’s Kitchen talked about the scary experience that made him need medical help, saying that he felt “lucky to be alive.”

Since #FathersDay is tomorrow, I have a super important message for all the dads: PUT ON A HELMET! Ramsay wrote this along with a picture of his huge bruise.

“This week I had a really bad accident while riding my bike in Connecticut. I’m doing ok and did not break any bones or suffer any major injuries but I am a bit bruised up looking like a purple potato,” he continued.

“I’m thankful for all the doctors, nurses and staff at Lawerence + Memorial Hospital in New London who looked after me and checked me out, but most thankful for my helmet that saved my life. Have a great Father’s Day and be safe Gx.”

In the video he shared, Ramsay mentioned, “I want to give a huge shoutout to the amazing surgeons, doctors, and nurses at the hospital who took care of me this week. They were fantastic! But seriously, you need to wear a helmet. It doesn’t matter if it’s just a quick trip. I don’t care if helmets are expensive; they are super important. Even for kids, they should always wear a helmet, even on short rides.”

“Now, I’m lucky to be standing here. I’m in pain. It’s been a brutal week. And I’m, sort of, getting through it.”

His fans were quick to post comments wishing him well.

I initially thought it was just a little bump, but wow, that bruise tells a different story! I’m really happy you’re alright, one person commented. Another person said, “I’m super relieved we didn’t lose such an amazing person. Thanks for raising awareness, Gordan. We definitely need more folks talking about health and safety. So proud of you!”
We are glad chef Ramsay didn’t suffer more serious injuries.
