Amy Dowden says she ‘feels like herself again’ as she dazzles as part of the first ever Strictly Come Dancing trio for the live tour

Strictly Come Dancing has its first ever trio as Amy Dowden is supported by Lauren Oakley on the Live Tour meaning both women will perform alongside JB Gill.

The Welsh star, 34, has returned to the dancefloor after being rushed off the BBC flagship show three months ago when she was ‘taken ill’ and it was later revealed she had suffered an insufficiency stress fracture in her shin.

Speaking to MailOnline about her return, she said: ‘I feel like Amy again in 2025. My energy levels are different, I’m super excited.

‘To be back on tour, to be able to dance with JB again after our journey was cut so unexpectedly short, but also to be part of a team it’s just a great way to start 2025.’

Amy collapsed off-stage during Week Six – Halloween Week – after her performance and was taken to hospital as a ‘precaution’ but was forced to drop out of the show and Lauren Oakley, 33, stepped in.

The Welsh star had returned to Strictly last year for the first time after having a mastectomy following her diagnosis with breast cancer, making her injury and having to pull out of the show all the more painful.

It was revealed last month that Amy would perform in the Strictly tour but not as a trio.

All the female pros and celebs matched in gold dresses for the glam shoot on Thursday, whilst the boys dazzled in unbuttoned blue waistcoasts to show off their abs.

The Strictly tour starts in Birmingham this weekand will be judged by Strictly panel Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke, Revel Horwood and, for the first time, Motsi Mabuse.

JB Gill was a runner-up in December’s final after Dianne Buswell and her partner, blind comedian Chris McCausland, won the Glitterball trophy.

The JLS star, 38, explained to MailOnline that for the Live Shows, he would alternate between the women to give Amy a rest between the gruelling group numbers which they perform during 30 live shows.

JB said: ‘In Act One I dance with Amy, in Act Two I dance with Lauren. We do actually dance together throughout some of the group dances too.

‘I always like setting records, it’s amazing to be a trio because I get to dance with two incredible women and to be able to come back and perform the dances we loved live is a great feeling.’

Last week Amy revealed how she was still hoping to become a mother one day.

Before her chemotherapy, she had an egg retrieval procedure to give her and her husband, fellow dancer Benjamin Jones, a chance for children.

Amy, who also had a mastectomy, announced last February that she had ‘no evidence of disease’.

Having been diagnosed with stage-three breast cancer in May 2023, followed by gruelling chemotherapy, she revealed earlier this month that she has frozen five embryos to fulfil her dream of having a family.

The professional dancer said: ‘Obviously we would love a family, and we’ve got embryos because I’ve got hormone-fed cancer, so I was put into early menopause.

Speaking on the What If? podcast with Lorraine Kelly and her daughter Rosie, the professional dancer said: ‘Obviously we would love a family, and we’ve got embryos because I’ve got a hormone-fed cancer, so I was put into early menopause.

‘So in a couple of years, when they feel it’s safe, hopefully we’ll have the opportunity. And, if not, there’s still lots of other opportunities, which we have spoken about.

‘So hopefully in years to come we’ll be lucky enough to become parents.’
