[DE] Fox News Shakes Up Lineup: Will Cain Lands Major Promotion – What It Means for Viewers

In a strategic move to revamp its programming lineup, Fox News Channel has announced the promotion of Will Cain to a prominent weekday afternoon slot. Starting January 21, 2025, “The Will Cain Show” will air at 4 PM Eastern Time, directly preceding the network’s highly-rated program, “The Five.” This change comes in the wake of Neil Cavuto’s departure in December 2024, after a distinguished 28-year tenure with the network.

Will Cain, who joined Fox News in 2020, has been a familiar face as a co-host of “Fox & Friends Weekend.” His diverse background includes roles as a lawyer, ESPN radio host, and contributor to CNN and Blaze Media. Cain expressed enthusiasm about his new role, stating, “It has been an honor to wake up with America these past four years, and I am thrilled to apply my background in news, law, entertainment, and business to help our viewers better understand the headlines through thought-provoking content and analysis every weekday afternoon.”

“The Will Cain Show” aims to provide a comprehensive look at the day’s news in a signature podcast style, featuring extended interviews and in-depth discussions. The program will engage with newsmakers across politics, business, culture, and sports, reflecting Cain’s multifaceted expertise. This approach aligns with Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott’s vision to innovate the programming lineup to meet evolving viewer needs. Scott remarked, “As the media landscape continues to evolve, we are always looking to innovate our programming lineup to meet the needs of our viewers, and we are confident the new lineup will best position Fox News Media for the future.”

In conjunction with Cain’s promotion, Fox News has appointed contributor Charlie Hurt as the new co-host of “Fox & Friends Weekend,” filling the vacancy left by Cain. Hurt, who previously served as the opinion editor of The Washington Times, will bring his political insight to the weekend morning show. He is set to begin his new role on January 18, 2025.

This programming shift is part of a broader strategy by Fox News to adapt to changing viewer preferences and the dynamic media environment. By leveraging Cain’s diverse background and engaging presentation style, the network aims to offer viewers a fresh perspective on current events during the critical afternoon time slot. The introduction of “The Will Cain Show” is anticipated to enhance the network’s appeal to a broad audience seeking insightful analysis and comprehensive news coverage.

In summary, Fox News Channel’s decision to promote Will Cain to the weekday afternoon lineup signifies a commitment to evolving its programming in response to audience demands. With “The Will Cain Show,” viewers can expect an engaging blend of news, analysis, and interviews that draw upon Cain’s extensive experience across multiple sectors. This strategic move not only fills the void left by Neil Cavuto’s departure but also positions the network to maintain its competitive edge in the ever-changing media landscape.
