Liam Payne’s heartbreaking promise to son Bear as he said, “My life now is his, my money is his. I have actually got several companies that are up and running that I know he can run one day if he wants to or [he can sell them],”
Liam Payne’s family and friends have gathered to attend his funeral after the former One Direction singer tragically died aged 31 last month.
Liam suffered multiple traumas leading to “internal and external haemorrhage” after falling from the third-floor balcony of his hotel room at the CasaSur hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Three people have been charged following the singer’s death.
In the wake of the tragedy, Liam’s ex-partner Cheryl shared a previously unseen photo of Liam with their son Bear. The black and white image showed Liam looking lovingly at Bear, extending a hand towards him.
Despite the challenges Cheryl and Liam faced, having split shortly after Bear’s first birthday, it was evident that Liam always kept his son at the forefront of his thoughts. In a heartfelt interview in 2022, Liam expressed his desire to leave his wealth to his son.

“My life now is his, my money is his. I have actually got several companies that are up and running that I know he can run one day if he wants to or [he can sell them],” he said.
Having achieved immense success from the age of 16, Liam accumulated a vast fortune, estimated to be around $58million, by the time he became a father at 23. Liam had also generously contributed to purchasing a $5million home for Cheryl and Bear in the Buckinghamshire village of Chalfont St Peter and later acquired a nearby residence for himself after their separation.
Cheryl paid tribute to Liam on Instagram following his death. “As I try to navigate this earth shattering event, and work through my own grief at this indescribably painful time, I’d like to kindly remind everyone that we have lost a human being,” she penned.
The singer added, “Liam was not only a pop star and celebrity, he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a dear friend and a father to our 7 year old son. A son that now has to face the reality of never seeing his father again.”
She ended her message with a plea for respect, asking that Payne be allowed the “the little dignity he has left in the wake of his death to rest in some peace at last.”
