Paul McCartney ‘SNL 50: The Anniversary Special’
Sir Paul McCartney was among the highlights of SNL 50: The Anniversary Special, the star-studded live event that aired live on NBC and Peacock on Sunday, Feb. 16.
Closing out the three-hour special — which was packed to the gills with celebrity guests and current and former Saturday Night Live cast members in commemoration of the show’s 50th anniversary — was Paul McCartney, who took the stage with his band to perform the medley that wraps the Beatles‘ 1970 classic Abbey Road.

Other musical moments on the Anniversary Special included an unlikely team-up between Sabrina Carpenter and Paul Simon, who kicked off the show with “Homeward Bound” before Steve Martin‘s monologue:
Adam Sandler, former SNL alum, performed an original song about the 50th anniversary:
Miley Cyrus and Brittany Howard (of Alabama Shakes) also joined together for “Nothing Compares 2 U,” the song famously written by Prince that became a hit for Sinead O’Connor — this performance doubling as a tribute to both late artists.
