EMINEM marked a major achievement on Monday.

The rapper, whose full name is Marshall Mathers, proudly displayed his sobriety coin to celebrate 12 years of being sober.

Eminem commemorated his 12-year milestone on Monday. He shared a picture on Twitter with the caption: “Clean dozen, in the books! I’m not afraid.”

The rapper, who has been candid about his battle with addiction, has marked this special day every year with a similar photo.

He put an end to his substance abuse on April 20, 2008.

Currently staying at his mansion in Detroit, Michigan with his daughter Hailie, Eminem was once addicted to prescription pills such as Vicodin, Valium, and Ambien. He even had a tablet inked on his left arm.

In 2008, Eminem decided to leave his years of addiction behind. The following year, after a five-year break at the height of his career, which included a near-fatal methadone overdose in 2007, he released Relapse, his first album after getting clean.

In 2010, Eminem followed up with the album Recovery, a significant step forward in his journey.

“I had a drug problem, it’s no secret,” he told Vibe magazine in 2009. “If I told you how many Vicodin I’d take in a day? Anywhere between 10 to 20. With Valium and Ambien, the numbers got so high, I honestly don’t even know what I was taking.”

Eminem entered rehab in 2005 to seek treatment for his addiction to sleeping pills.

Despite this, in 2007, he fell into a downward spiral again and had to be hospitalized due to a methadone overdose.

It wasn’t until 2008 that Eminem made a firm decision to break free from drugs.

According to the New York Times, he checked into rehab early that year and committed to a full 12-step program for recovery.

Now, 12 years sober, Eminem is closer than ever to his daughter, Hailie Jade Scott Mathers, 24. He recently celebrated her graduation from Michigan State University on social media.
