KEY MOMENT: Prince Harry, Meghan Markle not invited to Balmoral this summer.

The much-anticipated reunion between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with the British royal family hangs in the balance. Reports suggest that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may not receive an invitation to spend the summer at Balmoral, the Queen’s Scottish estate.

Royal commentator Sarah Hewson weighed in on the matter. While the King’s door is theoretically “always open,” an official invitation remains uncertain. “He doesn’t want this distance with his son, and he certainly doesn’t want this barrier between him and his grandchildren,” Sarah explained. However, she doesn’t foresee a physical invitation being issued. “Were they to ask, it would be very difficult for the King to say no.”

According to an insider, the Duke of Sussex’s strained relationship with Queen Camilla may be at the heart of the matter. The source revealed that King Charles was particularly invested in ensuring a harmonious Balmoral gathering this year. Given the challenges faced by Prince Charles and Kate Middleton over the past year, the occasion was seen as an opportunity for family members to unite, celebrate progress, and maintain a positive atmosphere.

Charles, who is fiercely protective of his wife (Queen Camilla), wanted to ensure that everyone felt comfortable with the proposed plans for Balmoral this summer. Notably, Express.co.uk previously reported that King Charles declined to meet with Prince Harry during his last visit to the UK because it was stipulated that the Queen must be present.

Relations between the Waleses (Prince William and Kate Middleton) and the Sussexes remain tense. The future King of England prioritizes maintaining calm and low stress levels during Princess Charlotte’s recuperation. As for the California-based couple, their hopes for a Balmoral reunion may be dashed.

The royal family faced challenges earlier this year, with King Charles announcing his cancer diagnosis and Kate Middleton undergoing preventative chemotherapy. Now, as summer approaches, the question remains: Will Prince Harry and Meghan Markle find their way back to Balmoral?
