Meghan Markle announces a new era. She finishes filming her Netflix cooking show after a busy time launching her lifestyle brand. Determined to escape the label of ‘negative royal’

Meghan Markle has ushered in a new era by finishing the filming of her Netflix cooking show, following the launch of her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard. This development is part of her and Prince Harry’s $100 million five-year deal with the streaming giant.

The yet-untitled cooking show will “celebrate the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining, and friendship.” According to a source, “It all went well, and it is in the can.” The filming took place in at least two locations: a premium wholesale florist near Montecito, California, and a $5 million property close to the $11 million mansion Meghan shares with Prince Harry and their children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 2.

Notable figures from the culinary world, including Michael Steed, who helped create Anthony Bourdain’s Emmy-winning “Parts Unknown,” are reported to be involved in the show. This project follows the Sussexes’ decision to step down as working royals in 2020, allowing them to pursue their ventures independently.

Meghan’s cooking show comes amid concerns about the future of their Netflix deal, which is set to end in 2025. The couple’s most successful project to date was their series about life in the royal family. However, there are speculations about their financial stability if the deal is not renewed. Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams has voiced concerns, stating, “If they lost this contract, with Archewell, their business and charitable foundation, having so few donors, they might well be in financial trouble.”

Sky News host Rita Panahi expressed a critical opinion of the new show, saying, “Meghan Markle has just wrapped up filming on a new cooking and home show for Netflix. It’s apparently going to focus on the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining and friendship – and I’ve gotta say, it sounds bloody awful.”

Despite the skepticism, Meghan is determined to redefine her public image. The cooking show and her lifestyle brand are part of her efforts to move away from the negative labels associated with her as a former royal. American Riviera Orchard, while not officially selling products yet, has soft-launched some items like jams and dog biscuits through celebrity friends and influencers on social media.

Prince Harry is also working on his own Netflix show about a US polo championship, further expanding their content offerings on the platform. The couple remains focused on building their brand and achieving success outside the royal sphere.

As they navigate this new chapter, Meghan and Harry are keen on establishing themselves as independent creators and entrepreneurs. The success of the cooking show and lifestyle brand will be crucial in determining their future endeavors and financial stability.
