NFL Referees Union Released A Statement On “Preposterous And Insulting” Theories of Favoring The Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs are looking to win their third straight Super Bowl as they will be facing off against the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 59. Ahead of the big game, the NFL Referees Association released a statement to heavily criticize a popular theory that has been carried among fans.

The theory across social media has been that the Chiefs have been the beneficiary of some favorable calls by officials, most notable during the AFC Championship Game where the referees called Josh Allen short of the first down on a crucial fourth down. Replay showed that Allen probably got the first down.

On Tuesday, the NFL Referees Association released this statement:

“Statement from NFL Referees Association executive director Scott Green, who says: ‘It is insulting and preposterous to hear conspiracy theories that somehow 17 officiating crews consisting of 138 officials are colluding to assist one team,’” Tom Pelissero of NFL Network shared in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

All eyes will be on the officials on Sunday when the Chiefs and Eagles square off in Super Bowl 59.
