Jason Kelce panned for Simone Biles assessment that left Travis taken aback

Former Eagles center Jason Kelce had some hot takes about American gymnast Simone Biles in his “New Heights” podcast with his brother Travis Kelce

The Kelce brothers recently began the third season of their hit podcast “New Heights”, and the pair are already generating headlines with spicy takes.

However, one of Jason Kelce’s biggest from the first episode had nothing to do with the NFL; instead, the older Kelce indicated he was surprised with just how much gas American gymnast Simone Biles had left in the tank.

Jason spent most of the summer in Paris alongside his wife Kylie at the Paris Olympics. He admitted to Travis on “New Heights” his initial skepticism.

“We watched like every [Team USA gymnastics] girl go and do the floor routine, and Simone Biles was the last person,” Jason said. “I’m like, you know she’s getting older. She’s a little bit, we’ll see how she looks.”

“There’s no way you really thought this,” Travis responded. Biles, 27, would go on to win three gold medals and a silver at the 2024 Paris games.

“I did think that!” Jason said back. “When you go look at the age of gymnasts, they’re usually not in their mid-20s to late 20s. They’re usually young. They usually don’t age and sustain well later.”

“I don’t know why I just automatically assumed she was the anomaly,” Travis said. Though Biles is one of the most talented athletes in recent memory, she is past the peak age of most gymnasts — many perform best as teenagers.

“You watch all these people do the floor routine, then it’s Simone’s at the end, and within the first three seconds, you’re like, oh, that’s different,” Jason eventually responded. “She just jumped five feet higher than everybody else that has done this.”

Funnily enough, Biles did not win the gold medal in the floor routine — that honor went to Brazilian Rebeca Andrade. Jordan Chiles captured the bronze in a ruling that is still challenged.

The Kelce brother’s podcast reached “New Heights” last season when Travis started dating Taylor Swift, bringing in an entirely new audience.

Unsurprisingly, the duo recently inked a massive deal worth more than $100 million with Amazon’s Wondery to have their show feature exclusively on Jeff Bezos’s platform.

Biles herself didn’t even expect to perform so well at the Olympics: “I’ve accomplished way more than my wildest dreams. Not just at the Olympics, but in the sport…a couple of years ago, I didn’t think I’d be back here at an Olympic Games. So competing and then walking away with four medals, I’m not mad about it. I’m pretty proud of myself.”
