Former U.S. press secretary Dana Perino accidentally goaded a Fox News colleague into revealing her pregnancy on live television.
Perino and fellow The Five co-hosts were discussing a survey during Wednesday night’s episode that indicated most people have not tried anything new in the past two months.
The political commentator, who was former president George W. Bush’s press secretary, then turned her attention to co-host Jessica Tarlov.
‘Jessica, did you try anything new?’ Perino said. ‘You’ve got something new coming.’
A look of shock washed over Tarlov’s face as she reluctantly responded to the query.
‘Yeah, and now the audience knows,’ Tarlov said, eliciting laughter from fellow panelists. ‘I’m pregnant.’
Perino covered her face in shame after realizing what she had done.
There appeared to be no hard feelings, however, as the colleagues later exchanged lighthearted pleasantries on Twitter.
‘I love this woman @JessicaTarlov,’ Perino tweeted to her 1.9 million followers.
‘Let me be the one to accidentally spill the beans. But they are such good beans.’
Tarlov responded: ‘Saved me a lot of fretting over a reveal. Love you!’
Tarlov, a Fox News contributor, joined the network in 2017.
She married her longtime boyfriend, Russian athlete Roman Kuznetsov, in June.
This is the first child for the couple, who have been dating since 2017.
The Fox News contributor is a Democrat, and provides alternative viewpoints during appearances on The Five’s rotating roundtable.
She and Perino appear to have an amicable relationship, despite their political differences.
Perino didn’t reveal all the details during her primetime gaffe.
The baby’s gender and due date have yet to be revealed.
