[DE] Ozzy Osbourne Delivers an Epic Tribute at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Billy Idol and Steve Stevens Crush It with a Show-Stopping Performance. And That Final Moment in the Spotlight?

A powerhouse lineup of rock stars came together to pay tribute to Ozzy Osbourne at the 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Backed by an all-star band, Ozzy’s set featured musicians with deep ties to his career, including Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo, multi-instrumentalist Andrew Watt, and keyboardist Adam Wakeman. These artists have worked with Osbourne on albums like Ordinary Man and Patient Number 9, bringing their history and energy to the stage for a night of celebration.

Maynard James Keenan and Wolfgang Van Halen Join the Party

The tribute started with a performance of Ozzy’s 1980 classic “Crazy Train.” After Osbourne opened the song with his signature shout of “All aboard!” Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan took over vocals. Wolfgang Van Halen also joined the ensemble for this high-energy performance, adding to the excitement of the night.

Longtime guitarist Zakk Wylde, who has been a major part of Ozzy’s solo career, and country star Jelly Roll joined the stage for the next song, “Mama I’m Coming Home.” This emotional power ballad from 1991, which remains Osbourne’s only Top 40 hit, showcased the versatility of his music and the deep connection he has with his collaborators.

Billy Idol Rocks “No More Tears”

The final song of the set was “No More Tears,” featuring Ozzy’s close friend Billy Idol and his longtime guitarist Steve Stevens. Idol, a rock legend in his own right, joined in the fun to honor Osbourne, with Ozzy even campaigning for Idol’s own induction into the Rock Hall. “Billy Idol is a rock icon,” Osbourne said earlier this month. “His music is timeless. He should be inducted.”

This star-studded performance marked Ozzy’s second induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, having first been honored in 2006 as a member of Black Sabbath.
