Unrivaled is not what Angel Reese expected. The WNBA star came to the 3×3 basketball league with high expectations; however, her start has left much to be desired, causing fans to wonder if the Chicago Sky forward made the right decision in joining the nascent competition.

Fame and fortune have smiled on Reese since her college days. The forward won the national title with the LSU Tigers, stealing the spotlight from that moment until she arrived in the WNBA. Her rookie season was full of individual successes, although she could do little to get the Sky to the playoffs.

After recovering from a wrist injury that cut short her season with the Sky, Reese decided to try her luck in Unrivaled, the 3×3 league that aims to fill the long offseason of the W. However, the start was not easy for the 305 Barbie.

Reese stands out. Her team, not so much

The situation for Reese is the same in Unrivaled as it was in the WNBA, her numbers have not translated into success for her team. The forward has 22 points, 20 rebounds, and 5 assists, but her team, Rose BC, has a record of 0-2.

Her most recent game, against Lunar Owls BC, is proof of Reese’s situation. Although she was instrumental for her team, accumulating 12 points, six rebounds, and one assist, yet they lost 79-70.

The situation reflects what happened with the Sky in the WNBA season. Reese set records for double-doubles and rebounds, but Chicago finished 13-27, in 10th place overall and out of the playoffs.

Reese’s season is just beginning

Reese has never played 3-on-3 basketball professionally, which means she’ll have to go through an adjustment period, individually and with her team. Fortunately, they’ll have a week off before facing Mist BC in their third game of the season, which is enough time to continue integrating as a team.

Rose BC is in last place in the standings, but the Unrivaled season is just beginning. Once they get over the learning curve, Reese and her team will surely begin to show what they’re capable of by climbing the ranks.
