Lawrence Jones Steps Into the Spotlight as New FOX & Friends Co-Host
In a major career milestone, Lawrence Jones has officially joined FOX & Friends as a co-host, FOX News Media announced Thursday. The rising star, known for his insightful reporting and engaging on-the-ground interviews, will now be waking up America alongside Steve Doocy, Ainsley Earhardt, and Brian Kilmeade every weekday morning from 6-9 AM ET, starting September 18.
From Reporter to Co-Host: A Journey of Dedication
FOX & Friends welcomed Jones with a highlight reel showcasing some of his most memorable moments as an enterprise reporter. Over the years, he has traveled across the country, sitting down with everyday Americans at diners, town halls, and key events, capturing the pulse of the nation. Now, he takes a seat at the iconic morning show’s roundtable, bringing his unique perspective and deep connection with viewers to a broader stage.
“I feel that when it comes to the couch, you really get a sense of America,” Jones shared on-air. “We have this incredible opportunity to represent our audience every day on the couch, and I’m so grateful and humbled. I will learn a lot from all of you, and it’s going to be an exciting journey.”
A Historic Achievement
At just 30 years old, Jones is making history as the youngest Black co-host of a cable news morning program. His appointment reflects his impressive rise within the network and his ability to connect with a diverse audience.
“Lawrence has always had a keen grasp of the issues that matter to communities across America, and his deep insights have proven invaluable to the FOX & Friends audience,” said Gavin Hadden, Senior Vice President of Morning Programming at FOX News Channel. “We look forward to welcoming him into our family as he helps wake up America alongside our star co-hosts every morning.”
Welcomed by FOX & Friends Family
Jones’ arrival was met with enthusiasm by his co-hosts and colleagues. Steve Doocy, Ainsley Earhardt, and Brian Kilmeade joined in celebrating his new role, along with FOX & Friends Weekend hosts Will Cain, Rachel Campos-Duffy, and Pete Hegseth, as well as senior meteorologist Janice Dean and FOX & Friends First co-hosts Todd Piro and Carley Shimkus.
Jones expressed his gratitude, recalling how his journey with FOX News began. “I am deeply honored to be part of the cable news legacy that FOX & Friends has built. This was the first national TV show I ever appeared on. It truly is a privilege to inform our audience every day, and I look forward to doing so each morning.”
A Ratings Powerhouse
FOX & Friends has dominated morning cable news for over two decades, finishing last year with an average of 1.4 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research. The show is on track to remain the most-watched program in its time slot for the 23rd consecutive year, consistently outperforming competitors on CNN and MSNBC.
Jones’ addition to the show is expected to bring fresh energy and perspective to the already successful lineup.
A Rising Star’s Future
Since joining FOX News Channel in 2018, Jones has steadily climbed the ranks. In 2021, he took on the role of enterprise reporter for FOX & Friends, traveling the country to bring audiences first-hand accounts of major issues. He also made history last year as the youngest Black solo host on cable news with his primetime program, Lawrence Jones Cross Country. While his weekend show has wrapped up, Jones’ impact continues to grow, with One Nation with Brian Kilmeade taking over the 9 PM ET Saturday slot.
Words of Wisdom from a Mentor
Throughout his career, Jones has leaned on advice from veteran FOX News host Sean Hannity. “When I first got into this business, Hannity told me, ‘Just be LJ,’” Jones revealed last year. Staying true to himself has clearly paid off, as he now takes his place as one of the network’s key morning voices.
As he steps into his new role, fans and colleagues alike are eager to see how Jones will help shape the conversation each morning on FOX & Friends. With his signature charm, journalistic integrity, and ability to connect with viewers, his future at FOX News is brighter than ever.
