Savannah Guthrie has fueled rumors about her or her TODAY co-host potentially leaving the show following her enigmatic comment: “We have to get accustomed to solitude!”

Hoda Kotb’s departure from Today left many viewers wondering about the future of the morning show’s lineup.

Now, fans are questioning whether her former co-anchor, Savannah Guthrie, might be the next to step away.

However, Guthrie has made it clear that she remains happy in her role and is not planning an exit anytime soon.

Savannah Guthrie’s Thoughts on Her Future

In a recent interview, Guthrie opened up about her career at Today and where she sees herself in the future.

The veteran journalist and children’s book author expressed gratitude for her position, saying, “What I know now is that I have the best job with the best people, both on camera and behind the scenes.

We’re doing important work and [it’s] fun.” While she remains open to new possibilities, she added, “Who knows what the future holds? I’m open, but I’m pretty darn happy.”

Her words suggest that, unlike Kotb, she has no immediate plans to leave the morning show. Having been part of NBC News since 2007, Guthrie has built a strong connection with both the network and the Today audience.

A Look Back at Guthrie’s Today Journey

Guthrie first joined Today in 2011 as a co-host for the 9 a.m. hour before being promoted to co-anchor alongside Matt Lauer in 2012. Following Lauer’s dismissal in 2017, Kotb stepped in as his replacement, and the two developed a close on-screen dynamic over the years. Their partnership helped maintain Today’s position as one of the most-watched morning programs.

When Kotb announced her departure, Guthrie was traveling overseas to attend a wedding. She recalled the moment she received the news, saying, “I said to my husband, ‘Hoda wants to call me, and she knows I’m at the airport. This can’t be good.’ I kind of had a feeling it could be that [she was leaving].”

Despite losing her longtime co-anchor, Guthrie remains dedicated to the show. With Craig Melvin stepping into a co-hosting role, she continues to lead the Today team and keep the energy alive for viewers.

Hoda Kotb’s Next Chapter

Kotb’s departure from Today was not due to professional disputes but rather a personal choice. The beloved television personality wanted to dedicate more time to her young daughters and focus on growing a wellness company. Though she no longer appears on the show, she has remained in touch with her former colleagues.

Guthrie even shared a recent conversation with Kotb, saying, “I texted [Hoda recently] and was like, ‘Are you still getting up at this hour?’ And she writes back, ‘Yes.’ I bet she misses all of us, but she’s really happy.”

Kotb’s decision reflects a growing trend among media personalities who choose to step back from demanding television schedules to prioritize their personal lives. However, she is not stepping away from the spotlight entirely—she has already teased new projects, including a collaboration with Joanna Gaines.

The Today Team Dynamic

As Today continues without Kotb, Guthrie and the rest of the team have adjusted to the new lineup. She described the relationships among her co-hosts, saying, “I probably have a big sister vibe [on Today]. Carson [Daly] is my mischievous little brother and Craig is the cool brother who explains what’s going on with the game and has big opinions. We all know Al [Roker] is the wild uncle. Hoda was certainly our cheerleader.”

This insight into their off-camera dynamic highlights the strong bonds among the Today cast, which have been a key factor in the show’s success.

No Plans to Leave—For Now

For fans worried about Guthrie leaving Today, her recent statements suggest there is no reason for concern. While she acknowledges that the future is unpredictable, she has no intention of stepping away at the moment.

As the Today team moves forward without Kotb, viewers can continue to count on Guthrie to deliver the news, share heartfelt moments, and maintain the engaging chemistry that has made the show a staple of morning television.
