WATCH: LSU coach Kim Mulkey and former Lady Tiger Angel Reese reunite at Sky vs. Wings matchup
LSU coach Kim Mulkey was in the house for the Chicago Sky game against the Dallas Wings on Sunday evening at Wintrust Arena. Mulkey was there to support her former player Angel Reese, who unfortunately did not play due to a wrist injury.
The 6-foot-3 forward was sitting courtside while her team defeated the Dallas Wings. Overtime shared a clip of the emotional reunion between Mulkey and Reese, who hugged each other before the game got started.
“Angel and Kim 💙 I love this 🥹,” the caption read.

Reese played for Kim Mulkey’s Tigers for two seasons, guiding the team to the NCAA national championship in her first year. The WNBA Rookie of the Year candidate had an unfortunate ending to her debut season after suffering a serious wrist injury during a game against the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday.
The following day, Reese made an announcement via X that she would miss the remainder of the season.
“What a year. I never would have imagined the last bucket of my rookie season would be a 3 but maybe that was God saying give them a taste of what they will be seeing more of in Year 2 lol,” Reese tweeted.
“I’m filled with emotions right now that I have a season ending injury, but also filled with so much gratitude for what is next … You’ll still see me being the biggest cheerleader on the sideline! And Unrivaled league, see you soon,” she added.
Angel Reese justified her two-week leave from Kim Mulkey’s LSU camp
It became a huge story in college basketball when LSU’s Angel Reese vanished from the team for over two weeks last November.
LSU head coach Kim Mulkey did not address Reese’s absence, which led to rumors that she was suspended because of bad grades and poor behavior at the time.
However, the Sky rookie cleared the air on the pilot episode of her podcast “Unapologetically Angel” on Thursday.
“I didn’t feel like it was in a good mental space for my own team and myself and just being able to give my best self,” Reese said.
“Me and Kim Mulkey kind of got into about something [in the Kent State game], which is normal, and I respectfully sat the second half. … we talked about what’s moving forward and it was just best for me to take some time off,” she added.
Reese also mentioned she always had a good relationship with coach Mulkey and defended her by denying all the false claims.
