Lilia and Maxim always dreamed of having twins, and when Kira and Lena came into their lives, happiness knew no bounds. Kira was an active and outgoing child, while Lena, born with Down syndrome, was quieter and more solitary. Despite being twins, the way they were treated was completely different, and that began to deeply affect Lena.
Each evening, as the family gathered around the dinner table, Kira shared her stories and laughter, while Lena sat on the floor, isolated and feeling rejected. Kira enjoyed a hot, tasty meal, while Lena received only cold food, often without accompaniments. Maxim, oblivious to Lena’s suffering, ignored her and occasionally brought her to the table, which only increased her pain. Lilia, focused on Kira and her accomplishments, didn’t realize how neglectful she was of Lena. Whenever Kira was invited to a party, Lena was left home alone, longing for the same attention and affection as her sister.
The situation reached a critical point when, after Maxim’s accident, Lilia took Lena to the hospital in the hope of saving her husband. In the hospital corridors, Lena, full of rage and frustration at all the neglect she had suffered, rejected the idea of donating her organs. Her refusal was a cry of pain, an expression of her discomfort at having been made invisible in her own family. The doctors, seeing Lena’s emotional tension, decided to move her to another room to help her calm down.
Meanwhile, the authorities began to investigate the differences in the treatment of Kira and Lena. Lena, feeling the injustice in her heart, agreed to donate her organs, but only if she was guaranteed to be sent to a family that would love her unconditionally. Kira, without hesitation, refused to be separated from her sister and decided to stay by her side. After Maxim’s surgery, which went well, the emotional situation of the family remained uncertain.
Ultimately, the court ruled that Lilia and Maxim were unfit for custody of the girls due to the unequal treatment they received. Lena and Kira were adopted by a loving couple who accepted them as they were, without conditions, giving them the love and attention they had always wanted. In their new home, the twins found what they had longed for: warmth, support, and a love they had never experienced before. They could now be themselves, without fear of rejection.
