Eminem is only a few months removed from the release of his latest album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), which arrived this past summer. The set was welcomed warmly, but it hasn’t proved to be the superstar’s biggest studio effort. While the masses may not be streaming and buying that title in huge numbers any longer, the rapper’s most successful full-length project is still performing spectacularly well, and this week has turned out to be a very special one for the musician.
Curtain Call – The Hits shines as Eminem’s most successful album in the United Kingdom this week. The compilation of most of the rapper’s earliest smashes is not only rising high, it reaches an incredible milestone as it holds on.
Eminem’s compilation has now spent 650 weeks on the ranking of the most-consumed albums in the U.K. Curtain Call lifts as it hits that huge sum, jumping from No. 21 to No. 17 on the competitive tally.
Only one album with more weeks on the chart sits higher than Curtain Call this time around. Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours, which is widely regarded as one of the most successful albums of all time, outperforms Eminem. That set keeps at No. 11, and it’s accrued more than 1,000 weeks on the tally.
Curtain Call is the hip-hop talent’s first release to reach 650 weeks on the chart, and it’s in a very, very distant first place when it comes to his discography. His 2002 album The Eminem Show managed 159 frames, while Curtain Call 2, the sequel to the original, which includes more recent additions to his canon, is not far behind. So far, that compilation has lived on the list for 125 turns.
Speaking of Curtain Call 2, it’s also present on the most closely-watched albums chart in the U.K. as well. Eminem actually fills a trio of spaces on the 100-spot tally, which is a large sum for any musician. The second iteration of his greatest hits set nearly re-enters the top 40, as it pushes from No. 46 to No. 41. The Death of Slim Shady is also on the rise, and it climbs to No. 61.
