Swoopes continues to criticize Caitlin Clark’s developing professional career
Sheryl Swoopes continues her dismissal of Caitlin Clark‘s WNBA career and talent with her latest snub coming as she ignored the Indiana Fever star’s prospects of claiming the Rookie of the Year award.
Swoopes doesn’t seem to rate Clark very much and now she’s taken another swipe at the 22-year-old by saying she has better players at the Fever than Angel Reese does at the Chicago Sky as the pair seem certain to contest the ROTY award in the latest round of their rivalry.
But not everybody agrees as Elle Duncan called her out for her bizarre takes on the youngster, who was selected first in the 2024 WNBA Draft, suggesting there is something personal going on.
“I love her but she’s wrong here,” Duncan told The Elle Duncan Show. “It just feels like there’s something there. And I’m not really sure what is not connecting with Sheryl.
“I don’t know if some of that is driven in sort of the hurt, she felt from the fanbase or some of the attacks that were leveled at her after she had those comments a few months ago, but this feels really, really. really off part.
“This just doesn’t feel right at all. And it is starting to feel like hate from Sheryl.”
Swoopes previously said Clark wouldn’t adapt to the WNBA like she did to the NCAA but that has been proven statistically false now, with the ex-Iowa Hawkeye shooting for over 30 points on several occasions.
It comes after Swoopes also claimed Clark got her NCAA points record via shots in volume rather than quality, and that she needed more time to beat Kelsey Plum‘s score, before she later apologized for “uninformed” thoughts.
When does Caitlin Clark next play?
The Indiana Fever currently have their feet up to watch Team USA at the 2024 Olympic Games during the WNBA’s summer break, but they won’t have to wait too long to head back to the court to push for the postseason.
Clark is back in action against the Phoenix Mercury on Friday, August 16 as she welcomes them to the Gainbridge FieldHouse at 19:30 ET/16:30 PT.
