Jennifer Lopez expressed she is “brokenhearted” in a touching tribute to her hairstylist Jesus Guerrero, who she had been with days before his “senseless” death at the age of 34.
Jennifer Lopez is mourning her late friend.
Three days after it was confirmed that hairstylist Jesus Guerrero—whose clients included Dua Lipa, Kylie Jenner and more—had died at the age of 34, the “Let’s Get Loud” singer shared she is “brokenhearted” in a touching tribute addressed to him.
“It’s no surprise your mother gave you the name Jesus,” Lopez wrote to Instagram Feb. 25 alongside a black-and-white selfie of Guerrero. “You were gentle and kind and loving, quiet and unassuming, but so powerful, and your presence was felt the minute you walked into any room.”
The 55-year-old—who was traveling in the United Arab Emirates with Guerrero in the days leading up to his passing—also spoke to the hairstylist’s work, adding, “You never demanded the spotlight. You never needed to make a sound to be recognized, your heart and your talent did that as effortlessly as you artistry did.”
And while Guerrero’s sister Gris Guerrero had announced his unexpected death through a GoFundMe Feb. 22, Lopez explained she needed several days before speaking out.
“I’ve been having trouble putting the words together the last few days,” she shared. “The truth is I’m still in shock that such a beautiful young life has come to an end. It seems senseless and unfair. I know your family is brokenhearted as am I and everyone else who knew you.”
She continued, “Your spirit moved on to the next phase beyond this life but I know wherever you are there is beauty and light. And the beauty and light you left here will live on forever. Rest in peace, sweet angel.”
Since his passing, Guerrero has been honored by multiple friends and clients. One star who considered herself to be both is Kylie Jenner.
“Jesus was more than my friend—he was a light in my life, a source of laughter, comfort, love, and unwavering support,” she wrote in a Feb. 25 Instagram post. “I don’t know how I would have made it through the last almost decade without him by my side. He had a way of making even the heaviest days feel lighter.”
The Kylie Cosmetics founder added, “Thank you, Jesus, for always being there for me, for lifting me up, for being my friend. The pain of losing you is just unbearable and I don’t know how to move forward without you but I know great grief is born only of great love, and I loved you so much.”

“I’m at such a loss for words,” the makeup artist shared on Instagram. “From the moment I met Jesus I fell in love with him. You couldn’t help it. He was the absolute kindest most authentic person I have ever met. Anytime I saw his name on a call sheet I would immediately text him with excitement and do a happy dance because I knew it was going to be an amazing day. Not only because of his insane talent but because just simply being in his presence was a gift.”
In the comments, Khloe Kardashian responded with a series of emojis, including a broken heart.
