Freddie Bailey swiftly captured Keith Urban’s attention during his audition on The Voice Australia by performing Urban’s latest hit, “Wild Hearts.”
The country music icon appeared genuinely delighted upon realizing that Bailey had chosen one of his songs for the audition. As he sat in The Voice’s iconic red chair, a broad smile emerged on Urban’s face when Bailey commenced singing the opening verse.
The 17-year-old showcased his talent by passionately performing the lyrics to “Wild Hearts,” a song that celebrates those pursuing their musical aspirations, all while skillfully playing the electric guitar.
Bailey’s blind audition resulted in a two-chair turn, with both Urban and Jessica Mauboy eagerly pressing their buttons, hoping to secure him for their teams.
While coaches Rita Ora and Guy Sebastian praised Bailey’s performance, they acknowledged that they refrained from turning their chairs, feeling they lacked a competitive edge.
Mauboy made a heartfelt attempt to persuade Bailey to join her team, expressing her admiration for country music and their shared connection to Tamworth, where she had previously won a country music festival at the age of fourteen. She emphasized her desire to have someone like him on her team, urging him not to make a predictable choice by opting for Urban.
Urban, flattered by Bailey’s song selection, expressed his eagerness to learn more about the young artist, humorously commenting on the song choice before continuing the conversation.
