O’Shea’s HILARIOUS First Time Meeting The Rock! | Games With Names
In the world of celebrity encounters, few moments can top the thrill of meeting a childhood hero. For O’Shea, his first meeting with The Rock is one that’s both hilarious and unforgettable. During a recent episode of Games With Names, O’Shea recalls his hilarious first time meeting Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and the story is nothing short of legendary.
It all starts back in the sixth grade when word around school spreads like wildfire: “Shay, your dad’s here!” Young O’Shea immediately thinks he’s in trouble. “What did I do now?” he wonders, imagining the worst. Could his dad have found his secret stash? Maybe it was a simple school mix-up. But as he walks outside, there’s his dad, not in the usual family four-door, but in a slick two-door sports car. O’Shea’s heart races as he wonders what’s happening.
“I’m just thinking, ‘What did I do? Why is he here?’” O’Shea recalls. “But then, we drive all the way to Venice—a little out of the way for a kid from the Valley—and I’m just sitting there, confused.”
Once they sit down at a restaurant, O’Shea’s world is rocked when none other than The Rock walks in. At the time, O’Shea was a massive wrestling fan, and seeing his idol in person left him completely starstruck. “I couldn’t talk. I was just sitting there, watching him,” O’Shea admits. “I got a cheeseburger. He got a cheeseburger. I got a root beer. He got a Diet Coke. I thought that was weird, but whatever.”
As the meal went on, O’Shea’s dad encouraged him to speak up. “Talk to him! Ask him what his favorite wrestling match is!” But O’Shea was paralyzed by excitement. “I couldn’t do it. I was just frozen.”
Still, The Rock wasn’t just there to eat; he was there to be a good sport. He signed O’Shea’s shirt, took a photo with him, and even paid for the meal. When the waitress returned with change, The Rock did something unexpected—he didn’t take it. Instead, O’Shea grabbed the quarter that was left behind and carefully placed it in his pocket.
“That’s my lucky quarter,” O’Shea says proudly. “It’s The Rock’s quarter! I still have it in a sandwich bag to this day.”
The story goes on to reveal the deep bond O’Shea felt for The Rock, who was a larger-than-life figure to him at the time. He recalls going to see The Mummy Returns and attending the Scorpion King premiere just to support his hero. “I was a huge Rock fan,” he remembers. “I would go to anything just to see him.”
But as much as O’Shea admired The Rock, the wrestling world had its ups and downs, including moments of betrayal when The Rock turned against his fans. “I was torn when Goldberg came into the WWF,” O’Shea shares. “It broke my heart when he beat The Rock. But hey, I stuck with The Rock no matter what.”
Interestingly, O’Shea and The Rock share the same agent, and O’Shea jokes about trying to get a role in one of The Rock’s movies. “He’s just The Rock in every movie, and I love it,” O’Shea says with admiration. “He’s the guy that can elevate anyone, and I can’t wait to see what he does in this new movie about MMA. I think it’s called The Smashing Machine.”
As for that legendary quarter? O’Shea is holding onto it tightly, and it’s not going anywhere. He even jokes that one day, when the time is right, they’ll toss that quarter for a special promotion in a future film.
For O’Shea, meeting The Rock was more than just a star-studded encounter—it was a moment that shaped his childhood and a memory that still brings a smile to his face. And as the story goes, that quarter will always be a reminder of how far he’s come and how close he once was to his idol.
