THE GOSSIP
That is because Shakira is making a point of calling out Pique in public, with the Barcelona legend accused of cheating on his wife prior to their official split and his subsequent coupling up with current girlfriend Clara Chia.
WHAT SHAKIRA SAID
In the track ‘Don’t Bother’, Shakira changed the words “she’s got perfect friends” to “she shares your stupid friends” – in reference to the social circle that she shares with Pique – before saying: “She works for you for free, don’t make her lose her mind. She’s more than you deserve, and yet she’s still not better than me”.
Shakira goes on to sing, in another jibe at Pique letting her down: “I gave up everything I had for you and moved to a socialist country just to be with you. I filed my nails down so they wouldn’t hurt you. I lost weight, learned about football just so you’d stay, but you didn’t—and you won’t.”
DID YOU KNOW?
The intro to Shakira’s iconic track ‘She Wolf’ was also tinkered with during her on-stage performance in Brazil, with the following added to a list of commandments that were projected onto a giant screen: “Real she-wolves do not covet their neighbour’s possessions. Clearly!”
WHAT NEXT?
Pique and Shakira split in 2022, but share two sons together – Milan and Sasha – meaning that they remain in contact and have to put a brave face on occasionally in order to avoid dragging their children into adult arguments.
