The Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl and immediately got hit with strange disrespect by ESPN

The Philadelphia Eagles destroyed the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX on Sunday evening in New Orleans.

And it took ESPN less than 30 minutes after the game to hit the Eagles with a massive dose of strange disrespect.

Shortly after Philly’s 40-22 win against Kansas City, ESPN unveiled their early 2025 NFL power rankings.

Despite the Eagles’ dominant win against the Chiefs, Philadelphia wasn’t at No. 1.

They weren’t at No. 2 or No. 3, either. Nope, the Eagles came in at No. 4 in ESPN’s early 2025 NFL power rankings.

Guess who was at No. 1….

That’s right. The Chiefs. The team that Philly ran out of the Superdome on Sunday.

(The Buffalo Bills are at No. 2 and the Detroit Lions are No. 3 in ESPN’s power rankings.)

From ESPN: General manager Howie Roseman has had a very good batting average in recent offseasons, as evidenced by the Eagles’ Super Bowl-winning roster. The additions of running back Saquon Barkley and linebacker Zack Baun in free agency, as well as the drafting of cornerbacks Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean in 2024, speak to his hot hand. Roseman has a few key decisions in front of him, including whether to re-sign Baun to a lucrative contract. But the main goal is to continue the sound roster decisions, supporting the current nucleus and extending the team’s title-contending window.

I don’t think there’s much that needs to be said about this. It’s completely absurd.

The Eagles probably have the best roster in the NFL. And while they have some notable free agents set to hit the market, the bulk of their team will be back in 2025.

Kansas City, meanwhile, appears to be a team heading in the wrong direction. The “stars” of the offense (outside of Patrick Mahomes) are Travis Kelce, an aging tight end who might retire this offseason, and Xavier Worthy, a promising young wide receiver who still has a lot to prove (638 receiving yards as a rookie). The Chiefs also have massive issues along their offensive line (including the fact that one of their best offensive linemen, right guard Trey Smith, could be leaving in free agency) that they have to figure out this offseason.

How in the world are the Chiefs, with those issues, getting the benefit of the doubt in 2025 just moments after they made the Eagles look like prime Mike Tyson?

There’s no doubt that the Eagles will be looking to repeat as Super Bowl champs in 2025. And they received some instant motivation from ESPN to help fuel their journey next season.

Hey, maybe Philly should be thanking ESPN for the bizarre disrespect.
