Donald Trump has been accused of being the ‘exact president’ that Vladimir Putin wants in the White House as the US leader cosies up to the Russian president
A former aide during Donald Trump’s first term in the White House has accused the president of being Vladimir Putin’s “puppet” in a scorching analysis of the US and Russian leaders’ relationship.
Anthony ‘The Mooch’ Scaramucci claims that the president exactly matches the type of leader Putin desires to see occupying the White House. This assertion follows comments by Trump where he attributed blame to Ukraine for Russia’s invasion of the country and called Volodymyr Zelensky a ‘dictator’, amongst multiple explosive remarks.
Trump also stopped Ukraine and other European nations from attending crucial peace talks held in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday. During discussions between the US delegation, headed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Putin’s team including Sergey Lavrov, there were heightened concerns of a potential capitulation.
Lavrov signaled an unwillingness to compromise before negotiations commenced, while the US had already suggested some key Ukrainian demands were ‘unrealistic’. Amidst fears articulated by wary European leaders that Putin could launch another attack if a peace treaty proves feeble without robust US security backing, Scaramucci – who had a brief stint as White House Director of Communications from July 21 to July 31, 2017 – alleges Trump is doing exactly what Putin wants by aligning the United States with Russia and China.
Speaking to Saxo, he expressed: “If you said to me, who would you want to have in the White House if you’re Vladimir Putin? It’s Donald J. Trump. And so, let me explain this because it’s very important; the Russians see themselves as a cynical government. The Russians see themselves as the people of Russia working for the cynical government and Vladimir Putin, it’s his country, or as Louis the 14th would say, I am the state. There’s a cynicism to that. There’s negativity to that.”

“So now, if I we’re Vladimir Putin, what would I want in a president of the United States? I would want him to go to Europe, get his vice president to rebuke and scold Europe. Imagine Ronald Reagan going to Berlin or Munich and scolding Europe instead of saying that we’re together.
“And I would want the United States to flex itself against the rest of the world and create a trilateral of meanness: China, the United States, and Russia, and then the rest of the world. And that’s what’s going on. That’s what Trump wants. He’s got four years to do that, He’s term-limited.”

The US President has faced global backlash after his harsh criticisms of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Trump, seemingly ready to betray Ukraine and Europe while ingratiating himself with Vladimir Putin, has labeled Zelensky a “dictator without elections”.
In a bold distortion of facts, he has asserted that Ukraine was at fault for the war that erupted in 2022. He further alleged that Mr Zelensky could have negotiated a deal to halt it.
