Paul McCartney’s Casual Appearance in Star-Studded Super Bowl Box Gets Fans Talking

Fans love seeing the 82-year-old rockstar ‘doing side quests.’

Paul McCartney’s surprise appearance at the 2025 Super Bowl left fans buzzing online after a camera panned over to show him sitting casually in a box as the game unfolded.

The Beatles star was filmed sitting in a star-studded box that also included Paul Rudd and Adam Sandler. Nearby, Kevin Costner and Pete Davidson sat chatting as they watched the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, La., on Sunday, Feb. 9.

McCartney sat in the box waving to Sandler and others around him. In one video clip posted on X, formerly Twitter, the rock star was seen lifting the beverage he held in one hand as if to make a toast.

Fans reacted to seeing McCartney at the game with excitement on X, with one writing, “I didn’t have Paul McCartney waving like an excited child when featured on the big screen/broadcast on my Super Bowl bingo card. I laughed. Good stuff.”

“My goat Paul McCartney doing side quests,” one X user wrote, while another declared that he was “the only goat in the area.”

Some fans seemed frustrated that he was in the audience instead of performing at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, which was headlined this year by Kendrick Lamar. McCartney did headline the Halftime Show once years before, back in 2005.

“Paul McCartney is in the house and NOT performing at halftime?” one person tweeted.

“There will never be a show like Paul McCartney again so I don’t even try,” another viewer wrote.

“Paul McCartney at the game had to be sad for him to watch that halftime show,” one person suggested.

Others expressed surprise at seeing some of the other celebrities who were seated near the Wings frontman.

“Pete and Kevin sitting together was not on my Superbowl bingo card,” one person said of Davidson and Costner.

“I didn’t know they were all friends,” another X user wrote.

“That’s a whole celebrity meetup ,” a viewer observed.
