Argentinian police are talking to two staff members at his Buenos Aires hotel over allegations they supplied him with drugs in the days leading up to his tragic death
Argentinian police are investigating two members of staff at the hotel where the Liam Payne fell to his death over allegations they supplied him with drugs, in the days before his death.
The men have been accused of sneaking drugs into the singer’s hotel suite at the Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The One Direction star, who was only 31 at the time of his death, fell from the third floor balcony of his hotel suite.
According to the Daily Mail, a cleaner and another member of staff at the hotel allegedly hid the drugs in a Dove soap box, which was found by police. It has been reported that white powder residue, crystals, tablets and other forms of drug paraphernalia, were noticed in Liam’s suite.
Police have sent the substances for tests but it has been claimed that it appeared to be cocaine and crack cocaine. Hotel management were made aware of the questionable behaviour of the two staff members. According to the publication, a close friend of the star said: “There were two guys at the hotel that were giving Liam drugs. They sent taxis out to collect packages for him. “
They added: “One of the guys was working in the cleaning department. After Liam died, they noticed that one taxi was sent to the cleaner’s home address. The hotel manager asked him why the taxi had gone to his home and when he couldn’t give an explanation he was fired. “
They then went on to say: “The cleaner and another member of staff have been interviewed by the police. Liam was doing everything to stay clean but as soon as he got to the hotel these people were offering him alcohol and drugs.” Members at Argentina’s Ministry of Justice have reportedly asked for a full toxicological examination before the singer’s body is released to his family in the UK. A post-mortem ruled the star died from a host of severe injuries following his fall at the hotel. Moments after his death a series of tributes poured in from fans, his bandmates and those who knew the singer from his time on the X Factor.
Rebecca Ferguson, who appeared on the talent show with Liam back in 2010, wrote: “It’s always a hotel room! We both met at Euston station and shared the taxi together to X Factor. I can’t help but think of that boy who was hopeful and looking forward to his bright future ahead. If he hadn’t jumped on that train and jumped in that taxi I believe he would be alive today.” The singer added: “Rest in peace Liam, I hope you find peace on the other side and love to your mum and family x.”
