Angel Reese playing in the WNBA

Now that we know for sure Angel Reese will no longer play a single WNBA game this season, we can safely talk about the overall stats she completed throughout the season.

Angel Reese would’ve 100% won Rookie of the Year in any other season with those numbers. But unfortunately, Caitlin Clark was the better player and the season is not oever for her yet.

If Reese wanted to have any chance at winning that award, she kissed these chances goodbye after announcing she suffered a season-ending wrist injury that forces her to stop playing for a few months.

But let’s take a look and honor Angel Reese’s rookie season that will stay in the history books for many reasons.

Angel Reese’s unreal WNBA rookie stats

For Angel Reese, the rookie season she just finished with the Chicago Sky is a testament of how impressive her talent has been since she started.

Along the way, Reese has also become a fashion icon and made a name for herself as one of the best defensive players in the league’s history already. That’s right, you heard this correctly.

Angel Reese already broke historic records as a defensive WNBA player. But let’s take a look at all the record she broke so we can ponder how important her participation as a rookie was now that she will no longer play.

Unfortunately, we won’t be able to watch her play again until next season.

Let’s start with the hardest stat, Angel Reese finished the season with the most rebounds during a single season in WNBA history. Reese averaged a whopping 13.1 rebounds per game on her first season. No other players whether it’s a rookie or a veteran has managed to get those numbers.

Reese also has the highest RPG average in a single season. And she also has the most consecutive double-doubles for a rookie and second overall in WNBA history that leave her as one of the best surprises in recent years. She didn’t win the Rookie of the Year Award but she sure did leave a lasting impression.
