Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu’s Victory Nets Floyd Mayweather a Massive $190,000 Payout

Floyd Mayweather is a shrewd businessman which is why his net worth is a whopping $1.2bn according to Yahoo Finance and he added an extra $190,000 to that pot by betting on Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu‘s WNBA talents.

The ex-boxer seems to be interested in professional women’s basketball now too as he cashed out for the $190,000 payout during the New York Liberty vs. Seattle Storm‘s clash at the Climate Pledge Arena on Friday, August 30.

The East Coast won the match with a commanding 98-85 victory against the Storm, based in Washington, to bounce back from their shocking defeat to the Los Angeles Sparks just days earlier.

As a result, Mayweather showed off his winnings on Instagram with what looks to be a stake of $100,000 (over twice the USA median income) to return $90,000 as he dubbed the victory, “Light Pick Up.”

Ionescu‘s 25 points, 8 assists, and 8 rebounds, combined with Stewart’s 32 points, five rebounds and six assists gave the Liberty exactly what they needed to claim their latest win of the season to get their conquest back on track.

They continue to lead the WNBA Eastern Conference with 27 wins and a .818 record ahead of the Connecticut Sun (.742), with a three game margin to their north-eastern USA rivals, as the Indiana Fever trail a long way back by 10.5 games.

They’ll next do battle with the on Friday, September 6 against the Seattle Storm once again as they welcome them to the Barclays Center, with the game due to start at 19:00 ET/16:00 PT.

Oscar De La Hoya hits out at Mayweather

Mayweather, despite officially retiring in 2017, has not really stopped from boxing and fighting with his latest venture coming against John Gotti III in Mexico City on August 24 and whilst he won the fight, it was overshadowed by a crazy moment.

The 47-year-old decided to change the referee in the middle of the bout, leaving his old rival Oscar De La Hoya to slam the drama as “embarrassing.”

“Floyd Mayweather fought in another exhibition against Gotti on Saturday,” De La Hoya said on social media. “A real s**t show that left the crowd booing at the end.

“In the middle of the second round, Floyd literally had the referee swapped out. He didn’t like that the referee told him to stop hitting behind the head. Floyd is used to getting away with whatever he wants and he wasn’t getting away with it this time.

“It was so embarrassing. Floyd, you’re 50 years old, you’re a legend of the sport. I’ve stood up for you in countless interviews, including Shannon Sharpe’s podcast last week but you have to stop embarrassing yourself with these exhibitions.”
