The World Awaits: Liam Payne Tribute is Coming so Close – Will Liam Payne’s Family Allow Netflix to Release His Last-Ever Appearance on ‘Building The Band’?

The makers of a TV show featuring what would be Liam Payne’s final on-screen appearance are hopeful fans will be able to see his work following his shock death this year.

The music world was in mourning in October when it was revealed One Direction star Liam had fallen to his death from a third floor balcony at a hotel in Argentina at the age of 31. Weeks before his shock death, the chart-topping star had been participating in a Netflix talent show called Building The Band in which he helped a team of star judges uncover new singing talent.

The future of the show has been in doubt since Liam died in Buenos Aires but a new report has suggested that the makers of the show are hoping to receive the blessing of the star’s family to air the series. Show bosses are aiming to air the series via the streaming service in 2025 – but reportedly will not do so without the support of the singer’s family.

Liam had filmed his scenes for the talent show in Manchester over the summer. The show sees the singer join Pussycat Dolls icon Nicole Scherzinger, 46, and Destiny’s Child legend Kelly Rowland, 43, with the team seeking to compose “the next great music group” by auditioning 50 hopefuls for a role in the final band.

Strip That Down singer had been involved in the show to help guide the judges in finding the talent – with Backstreet Boys member AJ McLean also taking part as a show host. A source told The Sun: “Netflix and the production company will meet Liam’s family to make sure they are happy with Building the Band airing in 2025.

“Nothing will be finalised until they have given their blessing. Those who worked on it say it captures Liam in a beautiful light and highlights his passion for helping others. It is the last thing he worked on and he comes across so well.” The Mirror has contacted representatives of Liam and Netflix for comment.

Netflix announced the show earlier this year with a synopsis explaining: “What will happen when the bands finally meet, and looks, choreography, and style come into play? With incredible performances, compelling drama, and one big goal — to find the next great music band — the stage is set for an unforgettable experience.”

While the makers of the show described it as “a truly unique competition show where building the perfect band is all about chemistry. The singers are in complete control as they seek to form their very own bands in individual ‘booths’ without ever seeing each other. All they have to go on is musical compatibility, connection, chemistry and merit.
