Taylor Swift spent a chilly evening in The Bronx to watch the New York Yankees in the postseason – and she was treated to a fireworks show in the form of a Juan Soto solo shot.
Swift was seen taking in the hospitality suites at Yankee Stadium with boyfriend Travis Kelce for the opening game of the American League Championship Series (ALCS) against the Cleveland Guardians on Monday evening.
As the temperatures dipped into the mid-40s, the game began to heat up as Soto smacked a home run over the right-centerfield wall to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning.
Soto pointed to the sky as he rounded first base as he celebrated giving the home fans something to cheer for.
Swift joined in the celebration – looking stunned after the ball left the field as she turned to her man to take in the moment.
The Yankees extended their lead later that inning – scoring two runs on wild pitches from Guardians hurler Joey Cantillo.
Yankees fans went home happy that night – with Aaron Judge hitting a sacrifice fly to bring in a run and Giancarlo Stanton tacking on a monster solo homer of his own to win Game 1 over Cleveland 5-2.
It comes as Kelce’s brother, Jason, was on ESPN duty for the NFL’s Monday Night Football game between the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills just across the Hudson River in New Jersey.
It is the second sporting event the couple have attended in the Big Apple in recent weeks, having watched the men’s US Open final with friends Patrick and Brittany Mahomes on September 8.
Earlier on Monday, Yankees manager Aaron Boone teased two very special guests would attend the opening game of the ALCS.
The pop superstar is a regular sight in the stands at her beau’s NFL games but on Monday night, she and the three-time Super Bowl winner swapped the football field for the diamond.
The Kansas City Chiefs star has been enjoying a week of quality time with the songstress during his team’s bye week.
The reigning champions won’t return to action until Sunday when they face the San Francisco 49ers in a Super Bowl rematch.
Kelce has ensured he soaks up every moment he can spare with his girlfriend before she hits the road again for her Eras Tour on Friday.
The celebrity lovebirds enjoyed a romantic weekend in New York, hitting the town with the signer’s BFF Blake Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds for a double date.
The A-list foursome was seen arriving at hotspot The Corner Store in the Soho neighborhood of New York City on Friday night.
Some fans flamed the four stars for their outfits but Kelce got most of the flack for his handlebar mustache and floppy hair.
Afterwards, Kelce was brutally mocked on social media as fans compared his look to Ron Burgundy from Anchorman.
Others said he looked like another Will Ferrell character — Ricky Bobby from Talladega Nights — and some even claimed his mustache was reminiscent of those from 70s and 80s adult film stars.
The ‘Fortnight’ singer was spotted holding hands with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end as they arrived at Torrisi restaurant, also in New York City.
Their string of date nights in New York City also comes two weeks after they survived the alleged breakup date from a leaked ‘contract’ several weeks ago.
The contract is widely believed to be fake, and Kelce’s camp were quick to call it ‘entirely false and fabricated,’ but it claimed the duo were set to announce their split on September 28.
The breakup date stipulated in the alleged contract has now passed without any fanfare, and without any news about a split.
Since then, Swift had been spotted at some of Kelce’s games and proving that their romance is still going strong despite the split speculation.
The couple also put on a PDA-packed display at the US Open men’s final in Flushing Meadows last month.
Swift and Kelce couldn’t keep their hands off one another with the popstar even serenading her beau with a rendition of Darkness’s, ‘I Believe In A Thing Called Love.’
Tonight though, Swift and Kelce are seemingly swapping Queens for the Bronx as they look to enjoy more of the sporting scene New York has to offer.
After failing to reach the postseason a year ago, the Yankees advanced to the American League Championship Series for the second time in three seasons and for the fourth time since 2017.
They will now begin their quest to reach the World Series for the first time since 2009 at home at Yankee Stadium in front of Kelce and Swift.
If Boone’s team can dispatch of the Guardians, who outlasted Detroit in a thrilling ALDS to set up the series, an all-New York World Series could be on the cards.
The New York Mets face superstar Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS in a bid to end their own nine-year World Series drought. The Mets evened the series against the Dodgers on Monday with a 7-3 win in Game 2 of the series.
